Back in April, John Street ruffled lots of feathers when he announced at an NAACP meeting, “the brothers sisters are running the city.”

“We are in charge,” he said.

Now, the Republican City Committee is using Street’s own words in a voter registration effort in Northeast Philadelphia.

And some are criticizing the GOP for using Street’s words, even though everybody agrees that he was quoted accurately.

Jerry Mondesire of the NAACP is among the critics and was quoted as saying he was “disappointed that the Republican Party would turn one regrettable racial statement into an opportunity to pander for electoral gain.”

Makes me wonder. What would Mr. Mondesire say if the races were reversed? I have a tough time believing he’d dismissively chalk it up to one regrettable racial statement.

I love it when people complain when they get the same treatment they have been giving out.
