Actually, what it says is that you can't hear, see, or feel anything, or at least that's what it says after you "wait" a few times. When you get that message, type "smell." And as for the bulldozer, don't take the towel from Ford until after he finishes talking to Prosser. Just "wait" for him to do this.

Oh, and can anyone who's gotten farther tell me how to make Marvin happy or how to open that case in the Vogon hold? How do you get to hear the second verse of the captain's poety?

Text based games are just so cool... nothing like Riven even comes close to this sort of problem solving...

I still have that text adventure on my C64 and have beaten the game a couple of times. I wonder if the hints are built into the game?

Anyway, to hear the second verse, you have to type 'enjoy poetry'. It a most difficult thing to enjoy Vogon poetry, but somehow you manage to do so.

BTW, I can provide D64 images of the game for those who wish to play on a c64 emulator.

edit: The hints are included in the c64 version that I have.
