It's almost 4 am on the day before graduation...and I'm STILL doing work for my professor. Work that HE should have been doing.
ALL YEAR I've done a ton of work for him...and it's NEVER good enough. It's never even "enough." So why am I losing sleep over this? Because the stupid OCD side of me wants to make sure that I turn in "perfect" work. Which is kind of funny, because he's never happy with what I do anyway. Everyone I work with thinks my professor sucks, treats me like crap...and I STILL sacrifice my beloved sleep to work for him. Sheesh.
To make it worse, the girl who is working with me has hardly done ANYTHING. But we're evaluated as a "team." Grrrrr.
I've been lucky enough to not have crappy bosses before. This one makes up for all of it. I guess it's my fault for not telling him off earlier and for being obsessed with saving my reputation...but it still sucks.
Thanks for listening.

that sux.
Don't worry about doing perfect work; they'll just get someone else to do "perfect work" instead.
Try this feeling; wake up after drinking and find your thread about being hacked/again.
Wonder if you remember the pw after drinking.
Dare to go to the Admin CP and find out you are still in.... that is an odd feeling of anticipation.... I bought this, paid cash and credit, and someone wants to steal it.
Change the pw again and write it down on a scrap of paper.
Count yourself lucky you don't have to drive to the server.
And have the hiccups again, and am grateful.
I went 7 months without hacking attempts and now 2 in one day.
I am so glad I'm here to deal with it.
Hmmm.
My last pw was 15 clicks long and damned hard to remember.
I may have to go backto 16 clicks.
fucking hiccups

This is the reason I walked from university. There was so much 'teamwork' where I was the only one pulling my weight, and I got dick all recognition for it... amongst other things.
So I walked, and now have a job I love. It's all a matter of direction and seizing the day. Just ask Wiley.

If someone keeps getting your pw and it's 16 chars long, someone has access to your (windows) machine and keeps snooping your password.
If you're choosing easy passwords, follow the guide from the UNIX passwd man page:
Code Sample | As a general guideline, passwords should consist of 6 to 8 characters including one or more from each of following sets:
Lower case alphabetics Upper case alphabetics Digits 0 thru 9 Punctuation marks
|
So, a password of
u>(tmBD, (an old user password)
Is much more secure than
letmein (which I use for too much stuff
However, if someone's consistently guessing your password you're either choosing extremely simple ones or someone has access to your machine with a trojan / keystroke logger.

Totally understand and sympathize with the work/grad school crap.
I don't think I'm going to make the damn thesis deadline - will probably have to write it on the go. At least I have all my projects done (for now ... I'm sure my advisor will cook something up soon) I have irresponsible, idiotic, "how the hell did he get an MD?" labmates that shirk their duties, break lab equipment, take my surgical tools, go download crazy on computers and introduce viruses that I (since I'm the only one halfway comfortable with computers around here) have to take care of ... and in all, siphon time away from me - time that could have gone into experiments, analysis, writing ...
My prof is a nice guy - though I wish that he is more open and easier to talk to. Hopefully I'll get a job soon ...
Anyways - sometimes no matter how well we do things, even if it's "perfect", someone will come up with some flaw - be it imaginary/unecessary just to be able to bitch

That would definitely qualify you to post in it then, wouldn't it.
Straw poll, a new ch1x0r shows up and kuru immediately starts flaming her. Who's surprised?

hey, if the alpha ch1x0r wants to defend her position, let her. Personally, it's fun to watch and laugh at the way girls fight. All the backstabing, slander, scratching, pulling off of clothes till they are in almost nothing....'cuse me
*fap*fap*fap*

beld: i think that she(kuru) is trying to put the newbie "through her paces", so to speak.
-------------- Sir? May I recommend I load myself into the reverse-thrust tubes and you use my body as decoy-fodder? This will, of course leave me splattered across deep space and unable to complete today's laundry, for which I apologise in advance.

Well, looks like my "initiation" is going to have to wait. My next 2 days are going to be filled with graduation events, entertaining family, and a whole lot of packing. Not a lot of time for playing online.
Then, I'm off to the swamps of Georgia to visit my folks for a week or so. No internet access at my parents house. I'm sure I can find access somewhere (for a few minutes at least)...although probably not enough to formulate witty responses or thoughtful comments.
Not that everyone wanted to know the details of my life...just wanted to let you know I wasn't frightened off.
