I used to have a sign on my door for the local anime club. It was very cool. About a week ago, it was torn down and returned in pieces. Someone deliberately did that. So, I repaied it and put it back up. This morning the pieces were soaked in detergent, and shaving cream. I don't think I've made any enemies, but I guess I'm wrong. The question is, why? Me and my roommate haven't pissed anyone off. Ever. We are actually model citizens for our floor.

I'm pissed that some people have nothing better to do than destroy other people's stuff. Does anyone else have a similar problem/story? Any advice how to track down the culprits a/la Sherlock Holmes? Any ideas for what I should do to them when I find out?

Oh, and if you are in Michigan State's Bailey Hall, and you are one of these fuckers, I WILL find you, you drunken piece of shit.

im sure funds are limited, so some sort of motion detector/vid camera hookup is prolly out of the question....but you could cover it agno3 (i dont even remember the actual way to write that, in chem i always just said "agno three") and it will turn their skin black...and then youll know who did it...if thats not feasable...well, dunno..

I'm thinking either a way to send electricity to them, or have them make noise. They're obviously spending some time out there playing with your sign, so you'll have ample opportunity to catch them.

Maybe webcam, maybe a quick circuit hooked to the sign that would trip when the sign is touched, going to a bell or whistle. Whatever.

And, the AGNO3 (Silver Nitrate) is a good idea, if it does that. It may just turn black in the light, though.

no, it like dyes it black, heh, i wasnt very careful with it the first time i used it...no, i got it all over someone elses hand....but with good scrubbing it comes off in like a week, otherwise more like a month...

second, try the AgNO3. or coat the back of the sign in black shoe polish. when the dude goes to rip it up, it'll end up *all* over him. and probably his clothes too. then you find out who the culprit is.

i had something similar happen I used to write funny messages on my white board like "all your base are belong to us" and such, and people kept writing "GAY" on there underneath. also, someone ripped down all my physics quotes and jokes, but i think it was just a drunk person who couldn't stand up by himself.

oh yeah and some idiot from the 7th floor stole all of the whiteboard markers from everyone's door last semester. that was uber lame.
