does anyone wanna tell me why a http://www.pricewatch.com/1/37/1729-1.htm voodoo3 and a http://www.pricewatch.com/1/37/1278-1.htm voodoo2 are the same f_kin' price?
thats stupid!.. check it out..

if i wanted to build my parents a sweet little machine, for typing and minimum internet surfing (for example... a http://www.compgeeks.com/cgi-bin/details.asp?cat=Mboards&sku=205-2235 pII 350 .. well, thats gonna cost me about 赔-趚 once i get a nice board to go with it....

now, say i want to put ME together a little gaming machine... for example a http://www.pricewatch.com/1/37/1278-1.htm 600 - 700 duron its gonna cost ME about 赔-趚 to get me started on something like that.!

whats going on here, why can't the stupid ocmpanys realize that they will NEVER sell the p II 350's for MORE than the durons/celerons/athlons 600's why dont they just lower the price, except defeat and get over it!!

Now! i cna't get on with what i want to do, because i feel bad about getting my parents a 600 mhz machine for word processing. but im not gonna pay more for a 350!.. its bull shit!.

but thats just MY opinion.

anyone ?

So get your parents a P-Pro, they're dirt cheap and pretty quick, I'm running a p-pro 200 right now and it's good for word processing, doing crap online, and even playing games, obviously it won't run q3, but when i had my m3d i could play unreal at 600 by 800 with no dropped frames.

Grr.. what i was saying was that it was going to cost me the exact same amount to build my parents a p II 300 as it would to build me a Duron 600.

(and i admit, i should have no complaints and just build them(parents) a duron 600. but after looking at a 600mhz id expect to spend like ุ-์ on a little PII. but it isnt so.. (sigh) )

honestly, i shouldnt complain, and should just build them a 600 duron.

but this is MY rant!.
(and rant i shall)

Processors are friggin' expensive. I remember back when you could get a 486 overdrive for a couple hundred bucks. These days, a brand new top of the line chip will cost you what- 񘐜 alone?

I still have an old 486/33 chip in my junk drawer. I remember going to a computer parts store years ago, and asking what I could get for it. The guy said "Uhm... I MAY be able to give you ฟ of store credit for it". I decided that it would make a much better souvenir. 20 years from now it will make a great "antique".

Amazing what a bit of silicon and plastic can cost.

Speaking of old hardware..... I got a 1200 baud modem mounted on my wall as an antique... Ah, those were the days, weren't they. When you couldn't reach the keyboard and the mouse didn't fit in your hand and the computer lagged when you typed. I can't believe I'm saying this..... but I love you my trustworthy (as if) k6-2 and cable modem
