i was at software etc today and i got really pissed off. in general they overprice shit and rip you off with selling used games, but thats nothing new. here's what i saw: chrono trigger, 10+ years old, just the cartridge, used, selling for ๟.99!!! (yeah i realize its the most popular rpg of all time but ๠ is 2x the original price!!) plus they are selling the original playstation and the new ps1 which is 1/3 size for the same price! are they stupid?! or just assholes? one final thing they have a big poster infront of every store "playstation 2 跋.99!! get yours today!" on they are backordered till spring 2001! how can they advertise a proguct they dont have.... software etc=fagorts!!!1

All of these things are bothersome, yes. Firstly, the 10+ years is incorrect... I think it actually came out around 95 or so. I bought my copy for 25 bucks under 2 years ago (and I have no SNES anymore ). The PS2 thing makes me laugh too.

Software Etc. is not in the business of appealing to the hardcore gamer anymore. Much in the way that Radio Shack has changed it's focus from an electronic hobby store to a ghetto-crowd cell phone store, SE is moving toward the ghetto-crowd play station store. Any suckers willing to spend ๠ on Chrono Trigger is crazy, unless it is considered a collectors item. It took a bit of work to find my copy, so I'm not sure.

I have fallen in love with Electronics Boutique. I got my PS2 there, and last Sunday, I actually was able to trade mine back for a new one since I got a defective DVD playback. THEY HAD AN EXTRA ONE SITTING IN THE BACK!!!!! They seem to be reasonably priced, and they have a lot of bargin bin games (which I flourish on).

My dad doesn't like them because they won't accept checks anymore. However, yes, they do overprice stuff... but Chrono Trigger is of course out of print. No doubt it is in the top ten SNES games. I wouldn't say that's worth it though.

P.S. The most valuable SNES game is Ogre Battle I believe

I stopped going to those overpriced corporate mall stores a while ago. My friend (Mahdi) turned me on to this small local store 'Software and Such'. They buy and sell used software, and have all the new stuff too. It's ran by a dude that loves computer games. He'll come out and talk to you about the newest games, whats good and not, plus they have a few windows boxes in the back with the newest games, you can sit down and test out.
Great prices too. I dont want to sound like an advertisement, but this is the coolest most laid back computer store i've been to.
have a good day!

Wow. Renting computer games... that's one hell of a hustle. You don't need a distributer, and you probably make a better profit off it after a couple dozen people 'rent' your one copy. I'm not sure, but I think this could potentially be illegal.
