1- IT WORKS!
2- If it doesn't, you have logfiles, debug and verbose modes
3- Applications don't interfere with each other: "Dammit, i must reformat because the new ICQ conflicts with team fortress!"
4- It's rock stable... 129 days of uptime ain't bad
5- Everything is configurable/modifiable, from the scripts, the config files down to the source code
6- Power-frugal: I installed it on a 486 w/ 16Mb RAM as a failover DHCP server
7- Doesn't need a ton of memory to work
8- Good I/O subsystem: your mp3's won't skip if you're using a floppy
9- Lots of documentation
10- It's a network Swiss Knife: you can install services for everything (Windows Sharing, Mac Sharing, HTTP, FTP, SSH, mail server, IRC, etc) server

On the negative side:
1- Graphical interface is still slow and lack features, compared to Windows' GDI and MacOS X' Quartz (however, X11 allows graphical applications to run remotely, either just one windowed application or a full desktop)
2- Installing packages can be something a PITA, because of the library dependencies
3- Almost no recent or interesting games, unless you're running an emulator (vmware) or a wrapper (wine) -- even with those YMMV
