God damn. Just when I thought 4.11 was the be-all and end-all of digital video. DivX5 - I gave it a test run, and holy shit does it kick ass.
Link for the fools who can't find it themselves.
If you like your DV small and sweet-looking (and you don't mind monkeying around with the controls) - get this.

ok, divx 5.0 OWNS, but i need to find something besides Tha Playa to play files on. I need something that has video contrast/brightness controls, because decoding vid files ignores windows contrast/brightness/etc. settings, and this monitor is a little too dark.

Playa is the worst player i had ever used. Too bad in 5.0 pro you can't uninstall the playa and leave the codec. I mostly use GDivX player because it's small and fast, but it doesn't have brightness and contrast controls. If anybody knows a good player that plays all formats, has lots of tweaks and isn't a resource hog then please post a name.

I tried out DivX 5, and... I like it. Even old DivX movies look better.
As for a player.... you'll hate me, but I use Windows Media Player. I have plenty of complaints about it, but it does play almost anything... and it only locks up sometimes...
