i just spent all day thinking of ways to fix my computer. i dl'd easy cd creator 5 to do an iso.  little did i know that easy cd 5 was completely incompatible w/ win xp.  every time i booted up it blue screened in dos (still trying to figure that one out).  i have a wireless usb keyboard.  i had to plug in a really really old standard 101 key keyboard to get it to boot properly.  i told it to restore last known functional settings which included all of the latest software i had but it decided that it didn't know anything about my mouse.

i had WinXP once on my good old 166, not only that i somehow managed to install easy cd creator 5 on it. that was the greatest mistake i ever made. the only way to fix the problems that all of a sudden appeared was to install linux :)
but either way, remove easy cd as fast as u can and get yourself a copy of nero, hoping that once you remove easy cd creator you will be able to resotre your system to semi-working condition.
it is possible to restore everything back to normal, but i found that since easy cd writes and replaces a lot of commonly used dlls as well as ASPI layer and whatever else it needs you might have a hard time getting your system to work the way it once did.
