I have the same processor, and I have it overlocked to 950, with no problems whatsoever. You probably have a KT133 based motherboard, so the faq at http://go.to/kt7faq should be pretty helpful for any issues you have. They have a bunch of links to helpful overclocking information in the overclocking section.

I suggest that you definately unlock the multiplier (close the L1 bridges with a pencil - more info in the faq above). It's much easier than worrying whether the peripherals can handle a higher clock speed.

Also, you need a good fan. I had a coolermaster, but it just didn't cut it, so I got a Taisol CGK742092, which is the best option if you don't want to pay unreasonable amounts. It was ฬ after shipping from kdcomputers.com, but check www.pricewatch.com for any better deals.

I highly recommend that Taisol fan I mentioned in my previous post. It is VERY good, and fairly quiet too. Oh, and whatever you do, DON'T go with any of the chrome/blue/gold/crap/shit orb fans that seem to be somewhat popular. They are not better than any average fan, and they will NOT fit on a KT7 motherboard if that is what you have.

PIII 800 @ 936

GoldenOrb by ThemalTake blowing into a case exhaust fan. Not very loud, and about 4 hours of CS will push the temp up to about 140 F. Task switch out, and wait 60 seconds, back under 100 F again.

the only good orb is a dead orb!!!

the only thing i have ever found good about the orb series is the blue orb for use on cooling the northbridge or for overclocking a graphics card(cos they look cool) all the other orbs just dont do the job for the price you pay. they're not much better than the generic crap you get with a package pc
