it's due to bad encoding. nothing you can do about it, afaik.

Run it through Virtualdub, direct stream copy for audio and video. Should fix it up real quick.

if you're running NT/2K/XP, you can start the encode and then use Task Manager to drop the encoder's priority to "low". You won't even notice that the encoder is running... you can even play games.
