Well, here are the specs ipon which I have decided so far:
Not sure on the case
Athlon XP 1700 (maybe 1800/1900?)
EPoX 8KHA (maybe 8KHA+?)
512 mb DDR-SDRAM
Leadtek WinFast GeForce 3 TI 200
Use onboard sound
Pull cd burner, monitor, 75 gb hd, and mouse from old computer
Natural Keyboard (whatever brand...)

If you're gonna get an 8KHA, you might as well get an 8KHA+ as it's the next generation chipset. Though, Via has been known to have *some* problems with new chipsets (that's why I chose the 8K7A AMD 761 board and it's great )

And I have to throw in a suggestion for monitor: Samsung 955DF. 19", flat glass, kick ass, cheap $$$

1) creative labs audigy (if you can afford it)
2) turtle beach santa cruz (best deal)
3) creative labs sb live at the very least(~ษ)

I'm getting the monitor from this current computer, it's a 21" or something, I'm happy with it. This computer can be specced out for about 輪 w/ shipping from newegg.com if you get a cheap generic case, I'm getting a slightly nicer one though.

All I use anymore are headphones. I bought a cheapish set at Best Buy, the kind that completely surrounds your ear, they are awesome for gaming. I get so many people that say I cheat because I know when they're coming... in reality they are just really loud...

A good deal are the Cambridge Soundworks (marketed under Creative IIRC) 3 piece speaker system. It's around ุ and it's a subwoofer and two powered satellites. Awesome deal, I think they still sell them.

And I agree, a Live is all you really need. That and a good set of speakers/headphones.
