say a person uses dial up to connect to internet. and say this person chose to save their password so they don't have to enter it every time.
after some time passes and person needs the password, but they already forgot it, is there a way to retreive it, aside from having to call a really anoying ISP?
obviously it is stored in a file, but how is it encrypted and what file is it?
any ideas anybody?
any links to information on this topic?

There are a slew of programs that can read the stored dial-up passwords. Some that come to mind are Revealer, Snitch, and Padlock by eeye.com. I have a few of them in my file vault. To get a password, take my hackertest at http://jim.cbk.net/hackertest . If you score 100 you'll get a password. Or give me a day or two and I will post one of the apps on a public ftp server.

i really think that the question about Chrome Box is wrong
i never heard about it before, but a lot of searches showed that it's used to change the traffic lights. that is not one of the choices

yeah. chrome boxes are used for traffic signal stuff. And phreaking has so little to do with "hacking", unless you're talking about "h4x0r1ng", in which case you're a... lamer, yeah, that's the right word.

Also, that shit's easy. damn

are you sure you are talking about windows 2000. i remember *.pwl files in windows 98 and 95, but i don't think those exist in windows 2000. i think it is a little more secure, but i might be wrong.

If the password is masked just goto www.cnet.com and dl '007 Password Recovery' and it'll unmask your passwords. Great for this type of stuff and retrieving people's AIM passwords who have logged in on your computer.
