miNus's guide to formatting!
- Copy all important files to another hard drive, network drive, or CD's.
- Create a bootable floppy disk (at command prompt: format a: /s) if you have Windows ME or below. If you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP, don't worry, the installation CD's are bootable.
- For Windows ME or below, boot up with your disk, and type: format c: /s
For Windows 2000 or Windows XP, just boot up with the installation CD and select the option to format the drive. - Install operating system of your choice. (A wise idea right about now would be to switch over to 2K or XP if you haven't done so already!!!)
- Copy your saved files back over (make sure you don't copy PROGRAMS, that won't work, only FILES - you will have to reinstall any programs).
And... I'm spent. Good luck!

Correction to previously listed item: 3. Install operating system of your choice. (A wise idea right about now would be to switch over to linux if you haven't done so already!!!)
