Tonight i was in the pool, fixing the Kreepy Krawly.
After successfully pulling it all apart, filing it back up with water, making a 100\% sure there was no air in it, I plugged it into the pool filter connection bit, and turned it on.
It ran absolutely fine for around 10 minutes or longer, so satisfied that i finally got the bastard working properly, i walked inside and started playing TF.

Thats when disaster struck...

my little bro comes running inside and says he heard a bang and the kreepy krawly has stopped moving.
i went outside, and went to the filter box, to see that a chunk of the filter had been blown out of the side of the top barrel bit.

Any idea how much this is gonna cost to fix?
coz yeh my mum is not gonna be too impressed when she gets home.

My advice would be to give up, use the pool as a huge bong and go to the beach instead.

Sounds like it's a bit more than a blown fuse.
Is it one of the sand filters or is it an old one that you can take the top off?
The old one's are easier to fix as you can prolly get a new lid. If the body's busted, you probably are looking at a bit of dosh to replace and get it fitted. Reckon the costliest bit would be if the pump itself blew, cause that'd mean a qualified electrician fitting a new one.

lol reman... the kreepy krawly doesn't take a fuse.. it just hooks into the pool filter bit that sucks the water in.

our filter is one of those old ones where u can take the top off, and thats the bit thats blown, but apparently the motor is burnt out.

the pool guy came yesterday, and said that the whole filter has to be replaced, and that it was so old it just blew up coz no one had backwashed it. now my aunty is the only one that knows how to do this, and i've been askin her for ages to show me, and she never has shown me, and now she has the shits coz i didnt backwash it and that she has to pay for some of it coz we both share the same property... blah blah blah.

well yeh the new one we are getting is gonna cost us around 迲 (including installation) and its made of "woven fibreglass" which the pool guy said will never blow up or somethin like that.

Yeah, we've had both. The old ones are shit. You have to backwash regularly and also open them to rinse the algae off the filter screens. You'll all be happier with the sand filters. No maintenance beside the odd backwash and they work well. Better swimming for you at Christmas.
