Well, today is the day that those of us lucky enough to have Daylight Savings Time switch back to Standard Time. I don't know about other countries, but here in the U.S. it's also the day that a lot of people go around their homes and prepare them for winter. In California, that basically means changing the filter on your ventilation system, then opening all the windows, turning on the heater, and letting it run until the bad smell goes away. Which I did.
This year, I splurged and bought the ย Triple-Layer Electrostatic Filtration Filter (Removes 95\% of all particles down to 0.3 micron, which is smaller than anthrax spores! w00t! ) and placed little filters in the vents. I will *NOT* have a repeat of last winter, where my eyes and nose ran continuously thanks to all the dust... my roommate smokes 2+ packs a day, Last March I discovered he hadn't changed his Ũ.95 air filter in eight years, making our heater an official Superfund toxic cleanup site.
He's gonna be in a pissy mood when he comes home, just like he did the day he found out I had replaced all the icandescent lights in the house with modern flourescents. He claimed that flourescents make him feel nauseous... until I pointed out that I had changed them all out two months before he noticed, and that earlier that day he'd been happy about saving ฤ on the electric bill, and the day before he was complaining about gaining ten pounds. He grumbled something about me being a "hippy" but I notice that he still hasn't changed the lights back...
