Does anyone know what the absolute BEST MP3 CD Player is, and where I can buy it? Anybody here have a MP3 CD player? What do ya's think about them? Should I wait for the next generation ones to come out, or did some come out already? Any advice/recommendations?

Thanks!

i built one once. it used an ide drive and a footprint 486 board. it ran linux and decoded mp3s with an entire song of buffer. it didn't skip at all.

it cost about 轜 to build.

then one of my partners on the project broke it.

now, it is a 轜 pile of JUNK.

That's pretty cool Kuru. Not that yer partner broke it. Sounded like a good project. I really need to get a hold of a good mp3 cd playa soon. Ah well somethin will come up sooner or later..

Well, the NAPA is nice, but it doesn't offer shock protection. I'd say the Philips Expanium is the best.

From what I hear, the MpTrip is considered the 'highest quality' MP3/CD hybrid. Frankly, I think it looks similar to a hot, steaming ass-patty, but that's just me.

Seems to me the MP3/CD hybrid market is real young, and it'll be a generation or more until some really nice ones come out. I mean, the MP3 players out there still suck.
