Ok, kbreak I am looking for your opinion on this too. I had a roll of b&w tmax Professional I shot in a 600.00 dollar slr pentax. Dad took it to rite aid, closest one hour shop and told them to send it off, because its not c41. The woman said OHH NO we can do those. Dad was like the last place said they couldn't. Rite Aid was like ohh yeah we do it all the time.
So dad was like OK, and he went to pick them up and the lady said the camera didn't take the pictures that the film was blank. She gave dad back negatives that were all black. She said they do them all the time .. she called the company and they said the machine doesn't do that kind of film.
What in the hell can I do.. is the pics gone?

Is sounds like they're gone for good. I used to be a clerk at a CVS which is just like Rite Aid, and you can prbably get that person reprimanded if you ask for the manager. As for the film, I have little expertise on it, other than a few of the chemical processes. Forumwhore is a big photo buff, i think. What say you, o master of detnet?

Having worked in a photolab for a while, I can safely say your pictures are gone and the lady was a total asshead. Local photolabs usually only have the capability to process C-41 type film, and they send most black-and-white off to a larger lab. Your pictures are gone, and you should go bitch-slap the woman for being a total fuckface.

I mean heck dad even said "You are going to have to send these off" and I knew that too. Because in hence it was the professional version of that film. It was bought by mistake and used so I expected to send them off no big deal. But the stupid clerk .. GAH I am going to see the manager tommorow ..
I cant right now I am at work.

Dammit Just_Dave, why do you ICQ me with the same thing you post?
Now I have to repeat myself and I actually do use the computer to make money/write Detnet/watch pr0n/ etc.
I agree that your film is most likely DEAD.
You would be interested to see the negs and find out if they have frame numbers or any printing on the edges. That would mean that the film is properly processed but not exposed. If there are frame numbers, you fucked up. Film didn't roll thru the camera.
If the film is totally completely stark blank, you still fucked up by knowing better than to send film off to a drugstore. They treated it as color film and screwed your ass without kissing first. Sometimes it's best to spend the money for the best.
If you bother to send it directly to a pro lab, guess what?
You save money and time! Just gotta look em up. All the drugstore does is act as a middle man, which is what I do sometimes.... and I charge.
You said the pix were of a family member far away; that sux.
Once I drove up Highway One from LA to Monterey.
I dropped the rolls at a drive thru lab, That was a 800 mile trip;
guess what?

BTW weren't you working on a bastardization?
Where is it?
Tell ya what.
I will pin all bastardizations in the Media Forum until the new site goes up.
I reiterate.
You don't have to do the whole movie scene by scene.
I'd rather have 12 frames than no frames.
dammit I should crosspost this.

GAH!!! stop treating threads like a chat room! use email or something else
Your pictures are ruined. Most B&W film including T-MAX need to be processed in B&W chemicals.
Kodak "Black & White+" film is designed to be processed/printed with color equipment. The lady at Rite-Aid probably figured all black & white is the same. If she did, though, she's too stupid / untrained to work in the photo lab... go back to the cash register, you stupid bitch!
You should definately talk to the manager at Rite-Aid. Demand a free roll of film and free processing. If the manager is an asshead to you, send a letter to corporate and threaten to sue. With a little persistance you'll get SOMETHING free out of it. At the very least you deserve a replacement roll of film.
edit: I shot a test roll of Black & White+ a couple weeks back. Pretty amazing stuff, *REALLY* sharp. Only drawback is you can't print it yourself unless you have a color setup... which I do

"Kodak b/w film" etc
is always processed in b/w. with the exception of CN400, which naturally implies C41 processing.
Yah, get your free roll and processing (if the frame numbers aren't visible) but good luck seeing your niece soon...
Sorry dude.

I was like NO you gotta send those off your machine cant do them .. and she was like no no hang on went and got on the phone came back was like yeah it can .. I was like I dont care send them off .. she was naa i will just one hour them.

Just checked with my lady-friend. She worked at WOLF Camera for about a year. Says, (to confirm what DL said)"Kodak 'Black & White+' film is designed to be processed/printed with color equipment."
The chick probley thought she was being tot helpful and screwed you in the process. (no pun on the intend)
Just keep in mind her INTENTIONS were prob. genuinly good. Some ppl get HELLA undertrained at places cuz their managment sux total ass. But even giving her the benefit of the doubt she SHOULD HAVE been cool enough to be like, "Im an idiot, sorry, I'll go back to the cash-register now."
Get a free roll. The ART will never be replaced. Accept that, move on, and TAKE NEW PICTURES!!!!
