Free soft drinks for the new guys (yum! an hour worth of indoctirnation/orientation stressing the importance of attendance and dress code. (yawn) best of all, a slightly insane instructor with an afro. (with a little grey, he'd look like a younger Don King.) I don't need an introduction to computers, but this guy might actually make the course fun.

Hey dude, Intro to Computers should be fun for you.
You can make fun of all the idiots who use their *finger* to point at the Start button.

at least you aren't being taught how to open, close, minimize, mazimize and resize a window over the course of 2 hours...
-------------- Sir? May I recommend I load myself into the reverse-thrust tubes and you use my body as decoy-fodder? This will, of course leave me splattered across deep space and unable to complete today's laundry, for which I apologise in advance.

i think the problem with those IT programmes is that they start of really easy, but then they become really hard...
Anyway, what kind of school starts before the summer, don't you want to have a nice long vacation first???

no, today we learned how to turn on the computer (and the monitor too, that's important), and log onto a Novel Client workstation. AFter all the talking etc, thats about all the we had time for as far as hands on stuff. Tomorrow we play with the start menu and resize windows for 2 hours. =p

Highlight of today: Teacher is explaining how IP's and URL's are related. In order to demonstrate how they're the same thing in most cases, he's gonna have the class type the IP address for www.cocacola.com (instead of the url) into the address bar of IE. He grabs a huge book, bigger than any yellow pages i've ever seen, and starts to actually look up the IP for cocacola.com! WTF?! I never even knew they HAD books with DNS listings, but here he is flipping through it. "lets see.... cocacola.... cocacola....." Tapity tap tap go my fingers on the keyboard. 10 seconds later i say "found it." Ph34r m3, t34ch3r, f0r 1 4m 3r337.
