does anybody know any other good dj turntables for a little cheaper? anybody used stanton str8-80? they seem decent and i can get them at a very good price, somebody said the straight arms hurt the sound quality but ive never heard them myself so i cant say

You could always go with this as a cheaper vinyl alternative. IMO they work just as good, if not better.

i got to play around with cd mixing at the music store, they had a real nice set up and it was fun to use, but well basicly i dont know how to put it so its like this: fuck cd's, vinyl ownzz!!! i like the feel of working with records and the ability to scratch, plus you got more style with turntables, i wouldnt want to work with anything less
i use to have one technics 1200mk2 a gemini mixer and another direct drive but shitty table, but i had to sell that shit

My advice is to either:

a) save up till you can afford the 1200s
b) buy used 1200s (most people keep them in very good condition, and they are built to last), or
c) don't be a dj

from what I've heard, all the other brands suck. I hear the Stanton's are slightly decent, but are way too expensive for the quality of table you get.

Oh, and under no circumstances should you even consider being a cdj. Please, for the love of shit, don't.

Check ebay or local classifieds. I'm sure you'll find some nice Technics you can afford.

ps - by total, I mean 2 tables + mixer (how many channels? built-in sampler?)

Actually, you CAN scratch with the CDJ1100. (EDIT: although, the with the price, you might as go with a regular turntable) But I do agree that ingeneral analog is more personal. However... if you simply want to put on music and rock the house, CDs are just as good! (and mabey better because of the abillty to cheaply burn ANYTHING)
