There's a pretty good likelyhood i'll be starting school at The Cittone Institute on May 7th, depending on if i can iron out all the financial aid details and re-arrange my schedule at work.  Financial aid shouldn't be a problem or so i think....  and if i can't get my boss to be a little flexible with the schedule, i'll find a new job (which might delay things a few months, or maybe not, since Cittone has a job assistance program to help students find work somewhere that fits into their academic schedule.).

I'll be taking their PC Support Technician program, and 8-11 months later, i'll actually have something worth putting on my resume.  :D

After I complete my training and and find myself my first real job, i plan to continue with computer training to earn associate degree in pc systems networking&technology.

Don't stop going to class becasue you know everything already.  You will miss a test and fail or the instructor will fail you anyway becasue the school has a policy about attendence (I -haven't- found that out the hard way but I almost did...).

That and no matter how wrong the instructor is in what he teaches its his answers that matter on the tests.

Just stick with it.  I did it for 21 months at devry and i knew more than half the teachers there and all i did was read the text they gave me.

Tell you what.  you get finished and ill put in a good word for you at CAI.  Its a computer tech placement agency.  They do a ton of work for the place i work and a few BIG banks and law firms.  I know some of the higher ups.  They pay "industry standard" but they will pay for things like MCSE tests or Novell training.

The offer is there.

Wow, kick ass!  Thanks WG.
One of the things that worried me most is being able to get my foot in the door at companies with a GED instead of a HS deploma......  Nice to know i have a plan B if an industry that has an estimated twice as many openings as qualified applicants decides to slam the door in my face.

I guess networking isn't all that evil after all.  I always resented people who got good jobs because they knew someone who knew someone while im still working a job i hate for shit pay.

Come to think of it, if i part ways with 7-11 on good terms, the owner, who's pretty well connected from what i hear, could probably make a call or two for me.  He knows the mayor, he knows Cardinal [can't-spell-his-damn-name-for-the-life-of-me], and others i can't think of presently.  There's like a shit load of pictures in the office of him shaking hands with important looking people who i don't know.....  *shrug*

Congrats on your decision to start changing your life.
I thought it was interesting when you said that you wanted you struggling to mean something, but realized it didn't.  I think too many people think that just because they paid their dues that things will get better for them.  It's pretty sad, but it just doesn't work that way.  The move Jerry McQuire sums it up best, it has a subplot about an athleate that thinks just because he's good that he doesn't have to put on a show for his fans  ...in the end he relises that putting on a good show is just as important as having skills.
And never underestimate the power of networking.  Every few months our office gets a few interns and I let them know that the best thing that they can do for there carrer is have one of the local bigshots put in a good word for them.  These are all MBAs from ivy league schools and most of them leave and are never heard from again, the ones that make it are the ones who you know their names after the first day.
Don't work at life, work at your goals.

2 weeks till i start..... still have not much of an idea about how much i can expect financial aid to cover.  filled out the 2001 federal studant financial aid form......  need to go to the federal building today to see the IRS about getting my 2000 tax returns fixed (don't ask) before i can fill out the 2000 one.

i think i should be able to get a nice ammount from the 2001 form, since i made shit money last fiscal year.  Between federal grants/loans, and 3rd party loans the financial aid dept. can set up if need be, i should be good to go.

I better sleep a lot now while i have the chance.
