As far as I know, being enlightened is determing how you feel, what state of feeling you live in, and not letting anything change that.

i.e.; Lincoln said that most people are about as happy as they decide to be...

Enlightened people almost never feel fear, guilt, anger or insecurity.

If an enlightened person is in a room with a tiger, they would certainly move to protect themselves and distract the tiger, but they need not fear it.

I think sometimes how Jesus got angry twice, once at the money changers and once at the fig tree that had no fruit.

I wonder about that more than I admit.
Oops, I'm "afraid" I just did.

An enlightened person would not have to worry about the tiger because they have left the need for the physical world behind them  ...thus a truley enlightened soul no longer is part of the physical world.  If you want to get technical.

Well it kinda hinges on what kind of enlightenment you're talking about: spiritual, etc.
As a term, enlightenment doesn't mean anything too specific.
But taking it in my own direction, I would see enlightenment to be a realistic, clear view of your situation. I mean, sure, you could ask to know everything, but most things to know aren't worth knowing if you just react right.
Example: fire in a building. Most people get all distraught over the emergency and bolt away like frightened deer. A person with a clear view would realize that not only do you not have to run, you'll probably catch up to the person next to you when they all clog up the stairwell.
That's the only enlightenment I can really see myself actually getting. As far as spiritual enlightenment, it comes at the cost of a LOT of study, and if I get it, I'll be old and gray by that time.

From my example? Uh.. no, just... common sense kind of stuff. Like the people clogging the exit in a panic, or like Muslim extremists doing something else goddam ridiculous-
You just know they will.

heh,
When I'm at the movies I always look to the forward corners.
In a "problem" they'll all run back the way they came.
I'll go forward.
