Ok, we are having a referendum over here today. As far as I knew, it was to vote in some controversial treaty to enlarge the European Union and to set up an Internation al Court of Justice.There was a third box though, it was to abolish the death penalty here in Ireland. I didn't even think that we had a death penalty ???? What is the story there ??
That is fairly messed up. 
We never put anyone to death, so why do we have to vote to abolish it ??
A lot of other people seemed confused in the polling station so it wasn't just me ???
