Today marks the second time in a month and the fourth time this year that I have opened a box from Fry's to find the wrong piece of hardware inside. A few weeks ago it was a firewire drive that was obviously kicked across the floor and brought back to Fry's without the cables. Today it is a PCMCIA Nic that I bought so my boss could connect a laptop into another office. The card I got was not the card I bought and it is missing the driver disk at any rate. So here is my dilemma. The laptop has to be ready to leave the office by noon (PST) to catch a plane and I have no driver for the Linksys PCM100 - EtherFast 10/100 Integrated PC Card that I have here. The Linksys site will let you download via their ftp site which is currently blocked by my firewall (tight firewall on account of me working in a bank and all) so if anybody would be so kind as to download the file from Linksys and upload it to:
ftp://cbk.net/detonate
username: detonate
pass: detonate
name the file linksys.exe
This way it will be accessible via http at http://cbk.net/detonate/linksys.exe since I allow browsing on port 80 to that site.
Or mail it to me at wiley@cbk.net
Thanks, and post any other screwed by Fry's stories.

Fux0r!!
Any chance you can resend that zipped? I got two firewalls I'm fighting with, one is restricting web-based email (firm policy) and one is allowing me to get to your message but restricting the download of .exe files (.zips are still ok). Both restrict ftp. Damn I hate our wacked IS policies!!

Restricting attached exe files should be a good part of any corporate mailserver. Helps keep a lot of those mass-mailing worms from spreading, even before the antivirus updates are published. I've seen that happen around here when I get all those emails through the Exchange server that have been sterilized.

Ahh, corporate/academic IT: binding the hands of the users so they can't do any harm.
