Well, I plugged my Epson Action Scanner II into my XP machine and it didn't work. 
I check the Epson site and they no longer make drivers for that scanner. XP didn't have any drivers listed for any Epson scanners and the generic TWAIN driver I had would make the scanner buzz but that was about it. 
I decided to go get a new scanner that would work in XP, so I drove down to Staples (I don't recomend buying electronics at Staples, but it was close) and found an HP 4400. Then the sales guy informed me that they were out of stock.
...so I drove to Best Buy and picked up my scanner. Once I plugged it in I heard some strange noises coming from the inside ...like violin strings breaking ...while being run over by a garbage truck. And then on my first test scan I noticed spots. Ok I thought, I'll just wipe the glass clean. Damnit ...wouldn't you know it, the spots are on the inside of the glass.
I'm taking it back tomorrow.
I did scan this pic in though.

I just got a scanner for my birthday, hopefully with it, and my pirated copy of photoshop, I can start my webcomic. I'll create a new thread once it's off the ground.

damn, all these good pictures are getting me jealous! 
seems like the only time to justify hiring a professional photographer is for weddings ... *twiddle*

Replaced my HP 4400 with a new one ...all is well now.I can scan at will.

if you have IE5.5 typeftp://detonate@ftp.cbk.net/uploads
in the address line and use detonate when prompted for the password. Then link to your file using
< http://cbk.net/detonate/name_of_file >

Edit: OK, that method links to the pic, so I can show off some early sketches. How do you guys have pictures in your posts?
BTW, this character could be in my comic, I'll tlak more when I get the site up and running, probly sometime this summer.
Edit 2: replaced bmp with lo-quality gif. You guys can delete the bmp if it's too much space

Use a format other then .bmp, save us a bit of time opening the pic. A .gif would work well considering the amount of white space and the limited color.Your doctor sure has small hands ...and a big ass head.
