So I went back to the doctor for a follow up on my X-rays and blood tests today. I previously went because I have chronic pain in my neck, back, and knees. I say chronic, but it comes and goes on an hourly basis some times. Anyhow, I went back today to find out nothing is wrong with me except my white blood cell count is slightly below normal. Somehow, I knew this was going to happen. The physician is sending me to a rheumatologist (however it's spelled, it's a joint doctor) to see if some mysterious ailment that didn't show on neither my x-rays nor my blood test is present. I can't say I'm suprised but rather a little dissappointed. I really want to get over this pain which has been bugging the hell out of me for three or so years. I hate to think that this is some sort of psychosomatic problem but I don't know what it is, the doctor didn't have a clue, and I'm not willing to accept something like, "You've just got sore muscles." If that was said I think I'd be even more upset than I am now. We'll see, although I'm itching for the specialist just to agree with the general physician. Well, once the stack of bad news gets so high, one more thing doesn't make as big an impression. Posted by ic0n0 on Apr. 17 2002,00:15
Sorry dude that sucks, no one ever thinks i am sick when i am because i rarely have a fever even when i had the flu or strep throat, so you can imagine how many days i went to school being sick

I know how you feel. I thought I had diabetes a couple of years ago. I had all the symptoms, including being tired all the time. However, the blood tests came back negative for diabetes, hypoglycemia, mono, etc. Still don't know what the deal is. It's all smoke and mirrors anyway... Posted by TheTaxMan on Apr. 17 2002,05:26
Expound. Posted by Beldurin on Apr. 17 2002,06:20
Just me being a smartass...it's a snake oil reference...half of medicine is just guessing anyway. For example, the health center at my university prescribes antibiotics (azithromyacin usually) for everything. Why? Because they don't know. Guesswork Smoke and mirrors, my man...smoke and mirrors Posted by veistran on Apr. 17 2002,10:02
next time when your in the bathroom, watch how many people leave without washing their hands. People still have a problem understanding germs.

yeah cos that urine stuff its like the fucking plague i think some people worry a bit too much about germs. Posted by TheTaxMan on Apr. 17 2002,22:25
Whatever germs I get from grabbing my belt buckle are far less than the germs I get from grabbing the sink. There's a joke that goes something like this: Two guys walk into the bathroom, one is from Harvard and one is from Yale. They both use a urinal and as the guy from Yale is leaving, the guy from Harvard asks, "Didn't they teach you to wash your hands after you leave the bathroom?" He replies, "No, they taught us not to piss on our hands." Posted by j0eSmith on Apr. 18 2002,04:09
Hey, heres a heads up; urine, yeah, its sterile. Posted by kuru on Apr. 18 2002,15:28
Would you drink a glass of it?
Posted by TheTaxMan on Apr. 18 2002,15:34
That's a fairly well known survival tactic if you're low on water.

There was a piss-drinking fad phase in Japan a long time back ... maybe they were low on beer?

But like, right now.Drink one. Prove it's sterile. Posted by Bozeman on Apr. 18 2002,20:05
It's still BAD for you! If you want to prove it's sterile, grow some agar cultures, but drinking something that contains the concentrated versions of all the (liquid) stuff your body doesn't want won't prove a thing, and can make you feel horrible. I wouldn't suggest drinking it even if you were dying of thirst, concentration of salt in urine > normal concentration in your body, so it can actually dehydrate you more. Sucks to be dying of thirst, eh?

Everything is bad for you, it just depends on how much of it you drink.

Just out of curiosity, have you been to a chiropractor? Would you consider it?Honestly, I'm a skeptic, but I'll admit that sometimes, chiropractic care really helps out. Posted by kuru on Apr. 19 2002,13:40
Chiropractic care is also a short term fix which works well for temporary pain in the upper back and neck, but does absolutely nothing for the lower back or long term injury. It's great for whiplash, but bad for slipped discs. Also, any chiropractor who tells you that all you need to be is 'adjusted' properly and you'll be in perfect health with never an ache or pain is bullshitting you. They just want you to keep coming back and handing over money. Posted by Wiley on Apr. 19 2002,18:41
Never ever ever listen to a chiropractor!! They are not doctors any more then a massage therapists are doctors. Edit: I'm not done bitching. Chiroprators are the used car salesmen of the medical world ...trying to push worthless crap on the unknowing public. They should be lined up and shot!! Posted by TheTaxMan on Apr. 19 2002,19:28
Problem is, I don't have a slipped disc. No one knows wtf is wrong.

hey here's a heads up... I'm not just talking about people taking a piss. Now go watch, I will practically guarantee if you sit in a busy restroom for five or so minutes you'll see at least one person drop a load and walk out. Posted by Wiley on Apr. 19 2002,22:04
Poop is not sterile? fux0r |
