I spent yesterday afternoon in court arguing a traffic ticket and paying fines. Then on my way home I got another ticket for making an illegal U-turn (when there were no cars driving and it was perfectly safe). Now, I can't possibly be the worst driver in the world. I don't hit other vehicles or people and I don't race on the street and put people's lives in danger ....but somehow it seems I get a new point on my driving record once a month. Most of them are stupid, like when the proof of insurance card I have in my glove box expired the day before and the cop is doing a "routine traffic stop" and just happened to pull me over. As best I can tell it's a conspiracy. There's no other reason for it. Maybe the LA police are out to bust white males for any reason just to prove they are not racists. I have gotten pulled over four times now in 2002 and it's only March. If I were black I would surely be hiring Johnny Cochran and be crying harassment. Maybe my driving really does suck ass? Three tickets in three months can’t be wrong.

That is really peculiar! In the physical world, I don't have an explanation...but in the karma world, I have a theory. If I were in your position, I'd check everything on that car that I knew how to check, from the tires on up! I'd be real careful driving for a month or two, and I wouldn't take any unnecessary risks. Life may be trying to tell you something, don't know what, but it's probably about cars... Had a friend who started losing his keys, over and over, and he doesn't ordinarily misplace them.... then one day his car started spinning 360s on the freeway. He had no troubles with the keys after that. You may think this is new-agey crap! But what would it hurt to be careful for a little while? Posted by chmod on Mar. 14 2002,02:08
Even though it was "perfectly safe", that doesn't make it legal. If you break the law, no matter how stupid it may seem, you should be prepared to face the consequences. Posted by ic0n0 on Mar. 14 2002,03:45

Yes, I know it was illegal and I don't fault the cop for giving me the ticket. My only gripe is that I keep getting caught ...over and over again. It's starting to wear on me. I'm going to start handing cards out to cops that pull me over and punch the card every subsequent time they pull me over. When they have pulled me over 10 times I will buy them dinner or something.

Dude, if you don't want to get pulled over for doing illegal stuff, stop doing illegal stuff.Quit whining about being caught doing this shit. If you're doing it, you run the risk of being caught. If you choose to keep doing it despite that risk, you forfeited your right to whine. 'God damnit I'm so pissed that I keep getting caught committing these damned murders. I know that murder is illegal, but it's just so *annoying* to keep being caught.' Posted by Necromancer on Mar. 14 2002,18:43
Just check more carefully before you pull u-turns and do it in areas where everone does it no cops gonna give a shit then .can't believe they pulled u over for doing a u-turn on a completely empty road though thats a bit harsh. this might help also < http://www.geocities.com/area51newmexico/page6.html > Posted by Wiley on Mar. 14 2002,20:33
Thank god I just have one more on my list. I'm not pissed at the police because I got the ticket; I know I was in the wrong. I'm pissed at the cosmic forces of the universe because I cannot fathom why I get caught every single time. Usually with strange circumstances that I can't explain. My last ticket was because I didn't have current proof of insurance, the card I had expired the day before ...how can I see that coming? Do you know when your proof of insurance card expires without looking at it? How would you feel if you got pulled over on a "routine check for insurance" only to find out that the card you have expired ...even though you do have insurance, you still get fined. And this last one was just as sketchy ...I completed the illegal U-turn in the metered parking space. Technically I wasn't turning, I was parking. I was actually out of my car by the time the cop pulled up to me ....and he was the closest freaking car!! Necro, I actually said number 30. 30) In California we drive like that all the time, what's the problem? |
