i got a call from the cable service today telling me i had to install this new software for my cable modem. seems that Excite's collapse has promted Cox to get their act together and release this pile of trash they call "high speed ineternet"so i install the software and it seems that everythings gonna be fine. except now, i cant go ANYWHERE EXCEPT DETONATE.NET! WHAT THE FUCKING HELL?! its really weird. i can get on AIM and audiogalxy, but i cant visit any websites except this one. and i tried to call the customer support line but everytime i get a busy signal. ive been trying for 2 hours. so i remove programs and what not, reboot, run the connection wizard, and im still screwed. whats really stupid is that Cox has most of its tech support online. so what are people, like me, supposed to do when they CANT USE THE FUCKING INTERNET?! my computer was fine yesterday. i knew i shouldnt of installed it. You shouldn't have installed it. All you need is < this > and < this >.I just helped my parents change their mail servers and account over the phone. It was actually pretty easy and everything worked. Posted by Rhydant on Jan. 31 2002,08:01
hrm.... it seems to be working now.but i cant open anything in a new window. wow, thats annoying. Posted by Spydir on Jan. 31 2002,20:11
the new window thing sounds more like a browser based thing. what the hell does the cox stuff do? Shove a cox up the browser's bunghole?

More than one, hence the loosely veiled pluralism of Co(X)Just tell 'em to shove it and get yerself a new dialup account... unless you are addicted to the 10-100x improvement of broadband, despite its failings. Posted by Rhydant on Jan. 31 2002,23:04

Have you fixed your browswer problem yet? If not, I've got a suggestion or 2.I used to supervise RR techs and we had an issue w/1 of our versions of IE that I found a fix for. It might work for your problem too. |
