NYURRRRRR!!!!Homeworld: Cataclysm. The game i've been waiting for over 4 months for has finally arrived. The day it came out (i had preordered it) i rushed down to the EB in the mall and picked up my precious copy. i didnt install it that night (homework) but the next afternoon was going to be dedicated to beating the hell out of it. I install. All goes well. I make shortcuts to various locations. All is still damned well. I run the program. All is not well. the damned game dont run, and the Sierra tech support is long distance, so i cant call. now im screwed. i checked around on some messages boards and tons of other people are having problems like mine. some say its the cd-rom. i cant find drvers for mine. some say its the video card. got the drivers, no difference. im thinking i should warex the little bastard and take back the game so i can get Final FAntasy 9 or maye NFL2K1.... damnit, this isnt fair. so now what do i do? i still play the original Homeworld (which you can prolly get for 25 bucks now. go get it) but its not enough man! i think im gonna write some complaints to Sierra and Barking Dog studios to fix this bastard. ------------------ Posted by kixzor2 on Sep. 14 2000,09:31
quote: You do that! I've had enough of games that don't work how they should! I've never been bothered to write away (slacker I know) but I rekon if you pay good money for it, it should damn well work!

Do a full install, and try using this EXE. If it's your CD rom that's fucking thing's up, than this may fix it. I wouldn't mind trying the game myself, Homeworld, and Ground Control are the only two RTS games I could ever really get into after Total Annihilation. < http://www.gamecopyworld.com/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?cataclysm_exe!zip > Posted by Sithiee on Sep. 14 2000,20:53
i know what you mean, i preordered Force Commander, and when it came, i installed it, only to have it crash like 5 times before i eventually got it to work right...and after that, i was still a bit disappointed =(

Cataclysm works fine here and _totally_, and I mean that in every sense of the word, utterly and unquestionably rocks. Good storyline, the beast makes a compelling and interesting enemy, and the new ships are very interesting. Ramming frigate, anyone. Oh, did I mention IT ROCKS? ------------------ Posted by Rhydant on Oct. 13 2000,21:18
whoa, dustman, you have WAY too much time on your hands to bring back this thread.oh yeah, i got the game to work. perfect but its hard though. i can get those fucking Harvestors without killing them! NYURR! ------------------ Posted by DuSTman on Oct. 14 2000,01:01
Sorry about bringing the thread back, my cookies got borked.Getting the harvesters without killing them. You'd be on the level where you pick up the spy, right? One word: Leeches, muh brutha! Posted by Rhydant on Oct. 14 2000,02:23
i tryed that. it actually started to work before either one of two things happened:1.) the leeches got a little too happy and killed them or 2.)The damned grav well generator got free from my ramming frigate and stunned 'em. ah well, ill go find some cheats they ALWAYS make things better ------------------ Posted by DuSTman on Oct. 14 2000,16:45
what i did:To start off, leech vent the repair frigates to death, then leech vent all of the frigates but one to death.. Acolyte attack the gravwell generator. Yes, they'll get stuck in the grav well, but the grav well will occasionally go out of range of some of the acolytes, allowing them to take one run. Once that's done, set the workers to salvage the harvesters - use one acolyte to attack each one and the workers will come in once they are damaged enough. Acolyte the hell out of the other resourcers.
