Fuck! Great. This is perfect.80s retro is coming into style. This means? The same type of people who would've/did call me a dork in '97 for liking Transformers and Ghostbusters (while they were wearing 70s retro, of course) are now "fondly recalling" all that time they supposedly spent watching it. Ravers who NEVER FUCKING OWNED AN ATARI SYSTEM, and NEVER LIKED MARIO are now wearing their hip, trendy Atari shirts to their hip, trendy raves, where they listen to the hip, trendy Mario ravers remix (LOL!!!, like, rilly.) Thought I was a geek a couple years ago for liking something, but now that it's trendy, they like it? I AM SHOOTINGS YUO NOW SO PLESSSE DIE!!!! Sorry. Sometimes I've just gotta vent. (Sometimes meaning, of course, most of the time.) ------------------ Posted by The_Hiro on Aug. 09 2000,22:38

You're just now figuring this 80's thing out? Jesus where the hell have you been? Posted by Sithiee on Aug. 10 2000,00:58
the 80s rocked, but to a point. the fashions sucked, and so did the politics. but everything else pretty much rocked...tv, music...mtv that actually played music videos...man i miss my childhood...

I'll tell you what, if you were an 80's child (i.e. you were born in mid-to-late 70's) then go to your photo albums (go to perants if you don't live there anymore, if they don't have photo's maybe you should count yourself lucky that you do not suffer that is coming next)Look at said old photo's from the 80's, notice the clothing and hairstyle...sure the TV shows were glorious..transformers, both voltrons, family ties... but look at what you wore!!! omg! Now you know why I vow to kill any who bring back the 80's at least the 70's was sorta at the tail-end of the hippy movement. But there is nothing on this Earth that can excuse us from the fashion atrocities of the 80's. regards, reman ------------------ Posted by Happyfish on Aug. 10 2000,03:13
80's music wasn't very good... Posted by Sithiee on Aug. 10 2000,04:24
80s music rocked, its much better than most of the crap that comes out today...all this "heavy metal" shit is really starting to get on my nerves.
Posted by Wolfguard on Aug. 10 2000,10:05
im thinking if it was not for the early to mid 80's music most of you would not be walking the planet. Chances are if you are 18 and under you where concived to the music of the 80's.Come to think of it, this would explain a lot about kids today... oh dear god im old! ------------------ Posted by Willy Pete on Aug. 10 2000,10:26
I grew up in the 80's and it was shit. PS: Sithiee, Metal was biggest in the eighties.See also: NWOBHM, Exodus, Slayer, Metallica, Maiden, Saxon, Voivod, Priest, Megadeth, And glam shit like Jovi, Cinderella, Poison, Crue, ad nauseum. (And i DO mean nauseum! ) GACK, all that crappy hair, makeup, and bandanas tied around knees. Just watch (once-was-)'hip' movies like Breakdance, Weird Science and you'll remember why we lie about our age. Haha, now that I think of it, can you say '80s american cars' without pissing yourself laffing? ------------------ Posted by Sithiee on Aug. 10 2000,15:42
no, you misunderstand, 80s metal was of much higher quality than the shit they play today. 80s metal sounded good and wasnt a bunch of middle class kids who barely learned 3 chords on the guitar whining about how life sucks and theres nothing you can do about it.
Posted by Vigilante on Aug. 10 2000,16:08
But life does suck, and there isn't anything you can do about it...

I like the 80s. I liked the 80s before it was trendy to like stuff from the 80s. I mean, without the 80s, a lot of really good movies, cartoons, and maybe a couple bands wouldn't exist. No 80s = None of the better Bill Murray movies. And also no Oingo Boingo. And the very thought just makes me sad. ------------------ Posted by reman on Aug. 11 2000,01:51
I must say there were people who made music in the 80's (Police, REM, Peter Gabriel my faves) that kicked ass, but these were just 70's bands in the 80's. The 80's music scene consisted of a lot of synth-pop crap which was just awful, let me list- Wham/George Michael - Boy George - A-HA - Pseudo Echo - Tina Turner - Tiffany - Glenn Mederos(sp?, fuck who cares) - Rick Astley - other pointless shit and all these other flouro wearing-guitar keyboarding-electronic drumming-crappy lyric groups which unfortunately throughout the 90's were rehashed into something worse... However the 80's were glorious for the television shows, especiall cartoons... regards, reman

As far as fashion goes, I wore t-shirts and jeans all the way through the 80's and i still wear t-shirts and jeans, i'm not really a slave to fashion, and i probably never will be.

first off, a-ha rocked, and some 80's synth pop bands didnt suck. i mean come on, how can anyone not like depeche mode? all they were was 3 synthesizers, but they completely rocked.

Gary Numan.Anyways, it's like I said in the sex forum: I wish life were like an 80s movie, because EVERYONE got laid in those. Even Anthony Michael Hall. ------------------ Posted by Bozeman on Aug. 11 2000,11:56
I love 80's cartoons.
Posted by Sithiee on Aug. 11 2000,12:17
not always, booger didnt get laid in better off dead...booger rocked. of all the movie characters of the 80s, booger is among the few who should have still had a career in the 90s
Posted by Wolfguard on Aug. 11 2000,12:22
hey Reman, all the tv shows you listed... ------------------ Posted by Firefox on Aug. 12 2000,04:54
I don't really like 80's stuff. SOME of the music is okay, but more for campy enjoyment... the clothes were kinda stupid... the TV shows were alright, I guess, but I gotta say that I like 90's stuff better (sure, there's waay more crap, but a lot of good shows too)... the 80's had good movies though.I was likely concieved to either the tunes of ABBA or the Bee Gees.... now that's positively frightening. -FFox ------------------ "A christian, an anarchist-slash-prostitute, figures out the true meaning of freedom. Sithiee: That's like, the third character from an 80s movie named Booger that I've heard of. Says something about that decade.------------------ Posted by TonyDennis on Aug. 12 2000,21:26
Bah, you guys can't forget Thudercats!-Tony ------------------ Posted by Rol3x on Aug. 12 2000,21:51
i hate mtv now. it sucks hard dick deep-throat style and i cant stand it. mtv only plays music videos on trl and the only ones that are on trl are shitney queers and backside boys. everyonce in a while eminem is on, but ive got all his shit anyways so i still change the channel then anyways. i think they should change their name from mtv to something else that doesnt imply that they actually play music videos.
Posted by Sithiee on Aug. 13 2000,00:40
well he was only named booger in revenge of the nerds movies, but i dunno his real name, and more people know him as booger, so i find it easier to call him that...

If you're listing all the good cartoons, you CAN'T forget the Gummi Bears!!!Oh, and about MTV, yeah, it does bite the big one, that's why you watch a good music video station *cough* MuchMusic? or sometimes MTV2 isn't that bad. ------------------ Posted by kuru on Aug. 31 2000,11:40
the 80s.... i remember them. most of them.somewhere, i still have my atari, the original "pong"... my first "computer"..that little texas instruments computer. back when there were synthesizers and madonna didn't have that faux british accent.. when saturday morning had cartoons on all the channels (we only got 6 channels) and it wasn't 4 hours of news. then i look out there today. the raver kid who's wearing the atari t-shirt has never actually seen an atari, and doesn't remember coleco-vision. the dude who quotes 'hackers' constantly has never seen 'war games' and doesn't know who 'johnny 5' is. dawson's creek can rip off the breakfast club, because the crowd that watches it is too young to remember molly ringwald, judd nelson, and that emilio estevez used to be in decent movies (before those duck ones). i miss the 80s... but i sure as hell didn't want them to come back /this/ way. ------------------ Posted by Sithiee on Aug. 31 2000,12:03
hackers sux0red, it was completely inaccurate...when "hacking" pretty pictures and formulas and words do not fly all over your screen...but wargames rocked, i dunno if it was 100\% accurate, but at least like 100 times more so than hackers...plus he used 5.25" disks....i had those =)

The best scene in short circuit is when #5 reprograms the other robots as the three stooges.

War Games - I do believe those were 8" disks. Predating the 5 1/4" Disks by a while.Just thought I'd pass it along. And about hackers, I look at it as entertainment. They showed that the FBI has a distorted view of hackers, and the movie itself showed the distorted view that Hollywood has. I still watch it when I need a laugh. Or I just read cr0's bastardization. ------------------ Posted by kai on Aug. 31 2000,21:54
honestly kuru how many f'n dead posts did you bring back

i don't much care if i'm gonna get yelled at.. i post where i've got an opinion. if people get their panties in a bunch, hey don't reply. i guess no one's been paying attention.. because at least five times i've said i'm a CHICK. but i'll take it as a compliment that you thought i was male. ------------------ |
