I remember buying Doom 2 when I was 14... the sticker right on it said "M- MATURE- 17 and over" and I marched right up and plopped it on the counter, and bought it. A few years after that, all the hype about violence in games started, so I don't know if you could do that these days.

Ratings suck. Age restrictions in general are kinda stupid. I know 16 year olds who are far more responsible and mature than some whacked-out 25 year old moron.

But what can you do?

Why are we letting people tell us what we can and can't watch?

Really, isn't it the PARENTS' job to not let their kid see a movie that they don't approve of? I mean, why should movies sacrifice some of the best scenes for the sake of kiddifying things so that the little darlings don't get any awful, awful ideas in their cute little heads?

Besides, even if the MPAA cuts shit out, it's useless since it's all just going to be released on DVD half a year later. And it's even easier to RENT a movie than get in in the theatres.

Besides, haven't you ever watched an unedited version of a movie, and then thought "Jeez, I wish I could've seen that in the theatres". Fucking assholes.

I mean, for the love of humanity, IT'S PICTURES ON A SCREEN. Anyone dumb enough to be that heavily influenced by a movie would be too frightened by the concept of moving pictures.

"Well, there were copycat murders based on Natural Born Killers! Logically, this movie should be BANNED, and all evidence of its existence should be DESTROYED!"

Anyone that damned unstable is going to kill. Who knows, maybe going on a NBK-style killing spree was better than what they would've done had they never seen the movie.

Oh my god. I just checked out that page, and I've got to say it was soo bad. I mean, there is nothing really wrong with a movie rating site in principle, but the wanton Christian influence and some of their rating systems are disgraceful. Scenes giving any implication of homosexuality worsen the score of the movie?? You have got to be fucking kidding me. How about we just ignore all the parts of society we don't like? If we ignore them, that means they don't exist, right??

I read their review of X-Men, and screw movie ratings, it was more a huge Christian bible rant. To give you an idea, they said that the implication that humans would "evolve" into different states was absurd...

And then they talk about how the storyline behind the X-Men fighting for tolerance of mutants was a veil for "pro-homosexuality" supporters. Who writes this shit?? You have got to be kidding me. I have to say that believe it or not, this stuff is almost as bad as Jack Chicks' tracts.

I want to rant and rave more about that site, but it won't do anything but make me even more pissed off, so lets just leave it at this- That site is disgraceful.

i agree. but if the parents really want to make sure they are doing the right thing, they should play the game (until they beat it, and you know they'll just get tired of getting their ass kicked and let you play it) or watch the movie, and then decide what they think. which either way i dont give a shit, my parents dont care what games i play on my cpu, thank god. i feel for anyone who cant do the same.

Thanks for posting that link. Now I'll know which movies to avoid. I for one have always wanted a ratings service to warn me about movies with 'suggestive eye movements'. It's also been a concern of mine to avoid movies with characters that 'DEFY RIGHTEOUS AUTHORITY'. When will people finally learn that sex is WRONG AND DIRTY, and that independent thought MUST BE STAMPED OUT?!

Honestly, I was appalled by the X-men movie after I saw it. How could they make heroes out of those HOMOSEXUAL mutants? They should have locked up those mutants or better yet KILLED THEM ALL. WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?????!!!!!11

I enjoyed that some of their highest rated movies were like "Mary Poppins" and some crap... I also enjoy how a signifigant rating they give is based on how rebellious or disrespectful children in the movie are to their parents.

They would probably blast Disney's "The Kid" as sinful, because that little kid yells at Bruce Willis. Heathen! The heretical imp shall fry for all eternity for that outrage!

Just wait 'till you get into some fo the more obscure reviews. They Reprimand Blair Witch Project for "constant menacing theme" or some such nonsense. Oh, and also, for including HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS.

And on SPAWN? Well, obviously they're going to complain about that movie, but I never would've guessed they'd've hated it for containing SATANIC MUSIC.

This quote was gleamed from the CAP site. This kind of Christian Supremacy is probably the reason so much censorship exists in America today. To Ozymandias, the ratings system for games is disguised as a way to help parents to monitor their children. What no one realizes is that supremacist organizations like the CAP actually try to pressure parents. They claim that these ratings will protect your children from bad influences, so follow them strictly or you will BURN!!!!! Okay, mabey they are a little less direct, but this kind of "guidance" is censorship in disguise. Another dirty trick (used a lot for music too, check ot Jello Biafra's "I Blow Minds for a Living") is that they will threaten stores with protest if the game is not pulled from the shelves. If the kid's can't find the game, they can't be corrupted, right? This works a lot on small stores, or stores in malls. What you can do to fight it is to go into the store with a big wad of ฤ's. Ask for the game. If they don't have it (i.e. they knucled under and let these supremacists bully them) ask to speak to the manager. Whip out the ฤ's and say as loud as you can (preferably when it's crowded) "See this money? I was going to spend all this at your store, but because you are supporting censorship, and not stocking the things that I like, I'm gonna go spend it at the COOL store that carries mature video games." If enough people take their business elsewhere, the store may stock the games, because money is even more powerful than protests. (Note: most organizations will threaten to protest and then not go through with it if their demands remain unmet. They think that too much negative press would hurt them, so a protest to enforce censorship is out of the question. What they count on is for stores to be afraid of the possibility and cave right away. Again, this is used for music too.)

And while we are at it, why not throw in some severe assault and torture? Being a "pure" Christian is so much fun!

Phsaw, this stuff gets worse all the time. It's really scary, when you think of it... also, i'm a well adjusted adult who's never killed anyone or had anything but the most normal of angry impulses. i got in my share of fights as a kid, but nothing outrageous....and get this, i may not've played violent video games, but i've been a target shooter since age six, and owned my own guns since age 12. i guess that shits the theory that every kid exposed to "weapons" of any kind will turn out to be ted bundy.

if having actual guns didn't turn me into a serial killer, i doubt a fuckin video game is gonna do it.

also, i dont feel like looking up to see if i already said this, but i do play a shitload of violent video games, but i couldnt break 200 at rifle if my life depended on it (being out of 300, i usually get like 120 or so). hence, anyone who says violent video games = violent people is just talking out of their ass.

With all things, people need to have responsibility: it is the lack of responsibility in today's society that allows shitheads like that to turn the blame for peoples actions on objects such as video games and guns instead of leaving the blame where it belongs: smack on the head of the person who has done the deed. 'Nuf said.

Oh, and Pokemon is evil, I think whoever thought up that shitty show should be shot in the back of the head with a 357, except that I don't condone killing a person unless they have done a criminal deed, or in war which is an entirely different situation.

once i've gone through about 100 rounds, i start calming down and paying attention.. 200 rounds and i'm totally focused. then i take them in 10 round sets (that's how big the clip is) and try to go 10 for 10...

you get really disciplined, i'd never consider just going off and killing someone... i've got this respect for my guns, they're like extensions of me. the shooting, the maintenence, the cleaning, it's a respect issue i guess. for the same reason that though a black belt can kill someone bare handed, he doesn't do it.... i don't even consider going near my gun if i'm gonna fight with someone.

it would go against all my years of training.

This page is one of the most disturbing websites I have ever seen, "Christian" or otherwise. In fact, the website's claim of representing Christianity makes it even worse.

If I had not seen this website, I would never have realized how evil a movie "Chicken Run" was. Suggestive eye movement! Promiscuity! Axe Murder! How could I not have seen this before?

Seriously, I'm ashamed to even say that I hold the same basic religion as these people. I plan on sending them some good Christian hate mail...
