Do the oil companys think we dont notice things like this? I have checked. We are not inporting any more or less oil. the global price has not changed all that much in the past 3 months. WTF are they trying to pull with this shit?
I think its time to find every oil company CEO and kick him in the balls till he sees the error of his ways.

You have to factor in conversions too. 68¢ per litre is actually equivalent to Ū.60 or Ū.70 Canadian dollars per gallon, which works out to ũ.75-ũ.80 American. Thus we get the better deal, our gas costing roughly 1/2-2/3 as much, depending on local.

eheheh you should consider that's 68 cents/liter and not 68¢/gal. :P
1 us gallon = 3.78 L and 1$CA = 0.62$US
so, 0.679$CA/L = 2.567$CA/gal = 1.591$US/gal
that's the most expensive in Canada because of the over-tax we have to pay in Quebec (that's a tax over the subtotal and every other taxes.)

Gas here in BC is down to (I use the term DOWN loosly) to ~69.9c/litre.
One province over (Alberta) The price of gas there is ~49.9c/litre.
Same crude oil prices. Same companies. But BC has 20c worth of road tax on our gas. And the roads are in pisspoor shape.

A corellary to that. Don't go out into the boonies to buy gas. Buy it from places that do a lot of business so the gas cycles quicker in the tanks. I know this because my car, after 100,000 miles of being a company car for a civil engineering company and spending a lot of time getting gas in rural towns, the fuel pump finally died because the gas tank had about 2 gallons of sediment in it. Not worth the 10c per gallon difference.

If its a quality brand station the difference between the innercity and rural stations should be negligable because they are all pretty much filled from the same trucks, use a sump pickup, and there shouldnt be too many impurities to sediment anyway. If your fuel pump dies from clogged tank sock/fuel filter some one has probably been putting gas in it from racetrak, BP or costco. Theres probably a reason you can get low grade for Ũ.49 a gallon.

Anyway, prices around here are cheap enough that I've been buing mid-grade out of general fear (ũ.25/gallon). I'm still of the mindset that more expensive = better/cleaner. I should know better considering that it took 100,000 miles to destroy this pump and I don't plan on having it that much longer.
I'm glad I don't live in Milwaukee anymore. Milwaukee and Chicago have been screwed for the last year or so for no reason at all. We use the same reformulated gas they do, but the gas companies are screwing them in the ass. It makes no sense.
Trust me, dont waste your money on mid grade either. Go with the cheap shit, or the expensive stuff if your car can use it.

The cheap shit is called 'the cheap shit' for a reason. What happens is the lower octane and the contaminants make your engine knock, and the knocks sensors retard your ignition timing to compensate (that's why you don't hear knocks from using cheap gas). It would all be fine except, when you retard the timing, you lose horsepower, so you have to work the car harder to get the same performance out of it. This decreases your gas mileage too.
I've been using mid grade in my car for the past 6 months or so. When I switched over, I noticed a BIG increase in power (well, I was really just regaining lost power), so it is well worth the $.10 premium over the 'cheap stuff'.
Yeah, toot.
The green party is trying to eventually rise the gas price to 5 Deutschmarks a litre.

OPEC (All those ME countries) is quite fucking pissed off at Russia for exporting oil to America... and cheaply.

Norway just said they'd drop production 200,000 barrels/day and so have MExico, OPEC, and everyone. All this on condition that Russia will drop production too. And they will.
Oil prices are now >ฤ/barrel when they have been at ป/barrel lately.
It's the oil companies getting together and artifically inflating prices by agreeing to cut supply. Which is fucked up if you think about it.
BUT on the other hand, oil is in very limited supply, so I think curtailing production in the long run is a good thing. We need reliance on different modes of power, this is painfully obvious. Fuel cells, nuclear, solar, etc. but it will never happen until oil prices go crazy high. It's kind of sad. We have to complete fuck things up before we fix them. Even if we see it coming.
Anyways, gas prices are going up again without a doubt, enjoy it while you can.

Snap out of it StreetRav.... uh.. miNus. Dear god dont tell me you've fallen. Unless you have around 9.7:1 or more compression ratio 91 octane TURNS TO CARBON in your cylinder. You dont need 93 octane till around 11:1 compression. 90\% of the cars made since the last oil crisis have 9:1 - 9.5:1...... including your cavalier. Any change you feel is due to higher grade fuels being oxygenated, meaning oxygen is bonded to the HC's and released during combustion.
