YEAH! That's a great idea! We'll all be dicks, while at the same time acting like we're somehow superior to everyone around us because of it!

Yeah, and if anyone asks, I know what we'll do, we'll say we're "cynical" and "jaded", like that makes us too fucking cool! Good thing nobody will ever think to ask us WHAT we're so cynical or jaded ABOUT, and even if they did, we could just give some meaningless bullshit answer about America's heartless consumerist society. But it doesn't matter anyways because, god dammit, we're young, we're hip, and we'll do whatever we want, as long as it's cool!

Good thing it's cool to say that you "do whatever you want" when you're really just following trends.

But where was I? Oh yeah, we'll all be assholes, and everyone will think we're SO FUCKING COOL, but saddest of all, so will we.

I don't know where you get off acting so superior to the rest of us. It's not cool to be a fucking asshole, and to do whatever you want, just so you and some other poor, misguided fools think you're cool. Besides, some of us are genuinely cynical and jaded, and we're sick (and tired) of all you "cynical and jaded wannabees" out there.

Back when I was a kid (heh) it wasn't cool to by cynical and jaded, it was called an "attitude problem," and when you had an "attitude problem" you got an "attitude adjustment" usually involving one parent and some sort of sticklike object.

I don't care if people think I'm cool or not. (and that makes me cool, right?)

All i know is it takes years to be an asshole let alone a fucking asshole.

Most of you guys are to young to be an asshole. right now, if your lucky, you all just little shits.

To reach the rank of asshole takes years of practice. You must be able to look at a guy with no hands and just blurt out things like "bet that makes jerking off a bitch."

From what i hear, to become Lord High Fucking Asshole this is what it takes.

Swipe an OS from someone and market it as your own.
from there make one crappy OS after another and make sure that everyone uses it. The more people that use it the crappier it has to be.
Leverage this crappy OS to put others out of business.
Take on the Goverment and make sure that another asshole gets elected just before they try to break up your empire of assholes.
Start a war with a bunch of people that think they have a real country so your release date for your new OS, that is just a service pack for your old OS, falls during it making it seam less evil than what is is.

This is what it takes to be an asshole of the highest ranking. But, you can all dream.

Dude, the real linus isn't like that. He actually could give a shit less about windows/gates. Now, if you wanted to be more correct/like the real person, you should have said "Your OS still sucks." or "/* I wonder if he knows what this is, or if he even knows what language orginated it */".

Hrm... assholes as far as I know aren't revered by anyone. At all. It's fun to listen to, or hear about, but actual assholes aren't cool. Noones ever thought them to be. I don't know what this thread is about... at all. As for selling yorself off for coolness, well.. yes. And? The only way you can be exempt from that is to stop caring what everyone else says. Become selfish that way. Take your pick I guess.
