my room mate is hitting on this hot girl friend of mine. she and i are good friends, we have a class together, she is my type (i.e. very mature for her age and cynical). although i would like to go out with her, i never really tried (i thought i had no chance). now my room mate is hitting on her like crazy, and i feel like shit. it's sorta jealousy/envy, but also like he's taking her away from me. fuck i hate people. i hope she isn't interested in him at all (i won't find out till i ask her tomorrow)

Good luck, sounds like you are going to end up being the cry shoulder for the chic everytime they get into a fight. BTW with over 700 registered posters you and 2 others always seem to be at the top with highly intellectual and mind boggling posts. Eh...keep up the good work.------------------

Oh yeah!!! Good memory, Kuru. But, that brings up a good point. Slip in the occasional embarrassing moment of your roommate. Put it in rant format, if you must. This fits under the title but kinda strays from the topic. This fucking user calls the helpdesk and says her pc is going into safe mode. So I go up to the 12th floor to see what crack shes smoking. Her: My machine reboots real fast into safe mode. Me: Thats not safe mode, your monitor has resized the screen to a smaller visable area. All we have to do is resize it. WorldCom has 1000 employees in our building with 2 pc build outs. A compaq m700 500mhz laptop and dock(which she had), and a dell gx110 700mhz desktop. We have an image we put on the machines so everyone has the exact same setup...supposedly making troubleshooting easier. So there are probably 350 other people in our building with the exact same laptop, driver versions, dock, and monitor. And the fact that it worked for 6 months befor hand. I poped a new monitor on(the exact same model) it worked fine. Later that day when we were testing the broke stuff in our storage room and it stopped displaying blue so everything had a pink hue to it. So then it got the average asset disposal treatment.... kicked down the stairs from the 1st floor to the basement. It usually makes a big mess because the stairs are cement. And the 2 hispanic janitors make us come get them so they can partake in the activities.------------------

That's a lot of repetitions. Just thought I'd emphasize that. I had this guy that thought MS produced computer hardware once.. he was pretty friggin stupid, and he did some more stupid shit but I can't remember, it was about a year ago.

Just so you know (besides being horribly off-topic), most monitors nowadays hold different geometry settings for every mode that they are capable of. Since, certain settings are right for 1024x768@75Hz, they don't necessarily work for 800x600@7@Hz. So, when you switch modes, the settings for that mode come into play... and if it's never been in that mode, then it's probably gonna look funny or be a default.Good luck with that help desk thing Edit: OK, it's not THAT far off topic, but I originally thought it was a different topic, which would make this much more off topic... topic topic topic

uhhh...they do produce hardware...unless you dont consider interface hardware (keyboards, mice, gamepads, joysticks) any sort of hardware...

For clarification, Sithee, they license hardware. They have very little involvement in the development of it, and pretty much most of their work goes into how to stamp their logo on it. Except for XBox. Their normal manufacturers weren't capable of it, so Microsoft set up their own production. Thus, we'll get no shortage of XBoxs this fall, because they could buy into a timeshare in heaven, if they wanted.Other than that, they really don't do much other than software and building an army of super cloned zombie creatures.

Yea, I know they do make some hardware but the guy thought it was strictly hardware only. I realized that after I took a good long look at the microsoft logo on my keyboard last night, and realized what happened. So I didn't bother fixing that.

Didn't Microsoft at one time have a stab at assembling and selling PCs? If memory serves me correctly that enterprise didn't last very long, as they didn't sell very many of 'em, but I seem to remember they gave it a shot.
