So yesterday morning amongst the other shit going on I got T boned in my parking garage. So I took it to the insurance investigator and he says theyre gonna total the car cause the cost of the car is less than the repair. So I have some options ahead of me. Right now the whole passenger side is shot. The body is all fucked up and the door wont open. I can rebody the car with the same body made of fiberglass. So it looks the same as it did only lighter. I can rebody it with one of these < http://www.k1-styling.sk > Or I can rebuild the car from the ground up. Right now it is drivable but I really wouldnt want too. If i do the ground up rebuild itll be undrivable for some time, but ill end up dropping an LT5 in it (485 hp stock....with all my extras somewhere around 900..weeeeeeeeeeee) Its gonna cost a shit load no matter what I do so I guess cost isnt really an issue. What should I do?This message has been edited by L33T_h4x0r_d00d on August 30, 2001 at 10:53 AM Posted by jrh1406 on Aug. 29 2001,14:52
That sucks ass dude i'm sorry, If you have the money, i'd say go for the rebuild, you'll get more power and get to play with lots of nifty car parts. I wish i had a small block, i miss the power, all i have is my little 3100 in my malibu. Posted by justcozz on Aug. 29 2001,22:00
I got hit in my Geo... But aside from that. What kind of car is it? ------------------ Posted by Rhydant on Aug. 30 2001,01:58
first, hire a lawyer to get the most money out of your insurance company.then, look around the market for a new/used car. then, scraped the car that got busted up for all the good parts. put those on the new car. its like upgrading a computer. ------------------ Posted by L33T_h4x0r_d00d on Aug. 30 2001,09:32
I think Im gonna go ahead and do the K1 Styling conversion ( < http://www.k1-styling.sk > ). Considering to do a Cobra kit ( < http://www.shellvalley.com > < http://www.erareplica.com > ) you spend ษk just for the body, frame and wiring. You still need Suspention (shocks, springs) and drive train (engine, transmission, differential). And to do a countache or diablo it runs a little higher than that for the same things. This kits costs about ůk for the interior and exterior that you put on an existiting car, you end up with a complete car. This way I can go ahead and spend the พk on an LT5 and not go into debt for 5 years. They say you can do the whole kit in 14 days but its never what they say. Plus Im gonna take my time and build in some extras.(Radar detector/blocker, Gps, 1000 watt stereo, false colored thermal imaging camara system, black light, a completely custom gauge cluster, Heads up display) So I figure if I start now I can finish by next summer. Whats the general consensus? Am I nuts? Posted by Greasemonk on Aug. 30 2001,10:22

A cobra kit car could be very cool. Just watch out with the radar blocker, aren't there rather large fines and posibly jail time for breaking FCC regulations and using one of those?

He has had it in the shop for about a month now, total damage so far is 8k. That thing was a bullet on wheels. ------------------ Posted by pengu1nn on Sep. 04 2001,15:53
dude get a 67-69 camero/firebird and fix it up with the shit you already have, much cheaper and still cool.
