I chose to do art for year 11-12.
i severely regret it.

All this theory, and no practical.
it's so full of bullshit
like for example, we're studying Rosalie Gasgoigne, and she made art out of collecting stuff, and then making something out of it, which looks like absolute shit.
like she'd get a road sign, and cut it into pieces, then rearrange it, and then say "this is art"

my arse.

do i really need art so i can do graphic design later on???!?!!?

i kicked the shit out of a cd-rom once and then drunkenly duct taped it back togther. i think i'm an artist.

Just like the Joker, you can be a homocidal artist. "I make art until someone dies"

Yes it does help to take art for Graphic Design - to a point. I took art right thru to year 13, but then the NZ art system is FAR better then AU.

IT all depends on who's teaching you. I had some way cool teachers, and some really shit ones (eg. told one of mates that it was unfortunate she was left handed!) fucking bitch. I quit yr13 ArtPractical Design becuase of her, but I did learn important stuff like the Design Process, and how you can fake it thru the system.

this was in my quote of the day

"Art has to move you and design does not, unless it's a good design for a bus."

I took it last semester and we did all that theory shit too. It was so incredibly gay.

The good thing was that our teacher was a really great teacher, very easy going and she knew a lot of things and was pretty well experianced in life. I would imagine a person like this would spend their time on something ... better than art.

year 13?

Posted by kixzor2 on Mar. 06 2001,18:38
NZ has only just converted to yrs, instead of forms. Form 7 = Yr13 wich is usually 17-18 year olds. I have no idea what Grade that is.
Doesn't AU only go up to Yr12? (6th Form)

in the US, it goes :

preschool
kindergarten

in high school, your years get names of their own : freshman, sophomore, junior, senior.
