I just spend a whole weekend building a fanbus for my computer, just to have it go up in smoke when I turned my computer on! I just wanted to come on and rant about my failure. Nothing more to see here, move along...

It lets me control the voltage going to individual fans in my computer so that I can control the noise level in my room.

got to love it when you power something up and release the magic smoke.

Should try it at 36V dc at 300 amps! Very cool to watch it smoke and melt aluminum plate

Does anyone know of a particularly quiet brand of power supply? the noise from my computer (although there are worse candidates, I'm sure) is far too much, in my estimation, and the vast majority of the (audible) noise is coming from the PSU fan..

I'm looking for a 300W unit, preferably which is too quiet to be heard.

if you have lots and/or big fans, they can get pretty loud, if you stay with the stock fans, you dont have anything to worry about.

i have reached the point where i can't sleep without the noise from the computer. if i don't hear the fan, i start thinkin something's wrong.

visiting my parents is hell... no computer to make me sleepy.

I do that too. I dont hear my alarm. i dont hear the wife, but if a fan dies im up trying to figure out what is wrong in the room.

Hey, do you think you could make your computer hover if you have a fan in the top of your computer, one in the side, and you give them 36V? I might give that one a try...

Main drive on a 400lb combat robot. 4 Bosch 750 watt dc motors. draw 180 amps per side. so its a little more than 300 amps...

and yes, you can weld with that kind of amps.

I looked at the combat bots on your page. You need one that looks like the ABC robot out of Judge Dread. A big badass with an attitude. I guess that would take a decent amount of hydrolics and ai....but it would definately be badassed. ahhhhhh terrror.... destruction .....mmmmmmmmmm.

Hehe. Hypnodisk is well cool! Kinda a favourite of mine..

I always like Mortis as well, really well made, really expensive robot, but they always drive it straight into a ditch or something..

Hydrolics=much weight.
You have a weight limit on a battlebot
wont even go into the guns...

since none of those bots won at battlebots when they showed up to play in the states im guessing there are people that can beat them

Mauler went to england and took out Hypnodisk, Bash and was going after killolot when they said enough. That was RobotWars. An event that was started here but was taken by mentorn entertainment. They are trying to start a us RW but guess what. memories are long here and no one will play. (see robotcombat.com for the history)

None of the british bots made it to the finals during the last battlebots.

Because mentorn entertainment is a bunch of fucknuggets that did every thing in there power to keep us from playing. Robot Wars started in the US. Mentorn got involved and tried to fuck everyone.
