Topic: discrimination for political cause (being Republican)

Now it's been a while that about half of the threads on these forums have turned into rants about a person being a Republican, ending usually in flaming or pointless insults. I think we should stop behaving like that for several reasons:1. Politics has nothing to do with sex, pics, geek stuff, hair, food, or whatsoever.
2. Discrimination is unfair. You don't discriminate people for their nationality, their sexual preferences, or whatsoever. So stop bugging them for having a political conviction.
3. It has never been known as a good style of argumentation to flame someone using prejudices whenever he says something you don't agree with. In fact, that shows that you are running out of good arguments yourself.
4. In case you want to rant and flame about politics/Republican... make a thread here. Just to make it clear and try to save myself from flames:
- no, I am not a moderator, I know. I just felt like this should be said somewhere.
- no, I am not a Republican in disguise defending myself.

I said the same thing somewhere else in the middle of somewhere. However, I don't agree that you can't descriminate against certain political stances. The reason being that people are not BORN republican... well sorta.This is why I feel free to dicriminated against assholes, posers, bad drivers, and telemarketers. ------------------

You see its not that we dont like catknight because hes a republican... its just that we dont like catknight AND hes a republican. And being that theres soooooo many ways to poke fun at the GOP (need for viagra, ties with the "clan", Rush limbaugh) and the fact that THEY are usually the intolerant ones, its usually quite fun.------------------

My dad's a republican. Well, I don't like him either... My old english teacher was a republican. He was a good teacher, but I didn't really like him... shit, maybe I do have something against republicans... My roommate, who is Republican, and I have had very heated argumentes about the difference in political views between Republicans and the rest of the world. But once I forget about a person's political affiliation, I get along great with them. So, if you want me to be nice to you, don't tell me your a Republican. Or tell me your a Republican, just expect to hear my views on your political choice. But like I said, some of my best friends are Republicans, so I don't view them as all bad.CK, I'm always just fucking with you. It's just soooo easy to get a raise out of you. ------------------

Asshole - I can understand why you might have that oppinion of me... but I'm not really THAT much of an asshole. And in reletivity with my fellow Detnetters...  Bad Drive - True true. But I EXPECT everyone else to be excellent drives to cancel my driving out. Therefore I have to discriminate bad drives from good ones so I can specifically ovoid them. Poser - I AM?? My friend is a religious fellow and as such feels compelled to vote for christen values. But then I remind him that sodomy isn't exactly a christen virtue and even if it was his pre-marital relations aren’t ether or his use of porn and the list goes on and on.

now i have a question, why is it that soooo many people dont even take the time to understand the views of their opponents before the start bad mouthing them? so many of you assume you know what the other side is about when you really dont. of course, i realize this post will get lots of flack because most everyone here is a poser wannabe and they'll want to show me how much they know by flaming me and stating facts with statistics. what they dont realize is that even i can pull a random pile of words and numbers and a buncha pretty lines out of my ass and say "Look at these statistics asshole!!! what do you say to that!!!!", ah well, for those that feel the need to do this go ahead, but the few, and i doooo mean few, individuals that know what they're talking about, i respect you, sadly, alot of you will probably take this to mean you. ah well, have a nice day

Dude? I know what the republican party's values are and I can respect them and I DO IN FACT understand them, I just disagree with them I do not discriminate against people based on their political views unless they get in my face and accuse me of being this or that. Most of my friends are conservative and most christens, and I am an atheist socialist thus my friends would be the exact opposite of me politically and religiously and yet they are still my friends, so guess what no discrimination. You are making a huge generalization about people who posted in this thread and you do not even know us, and you assume we don’t understand the other’s viewpoint, when many of us do.------------------

So, darksol, you would rather have us NOT talk and debate the pros and cons of various political and social views? You would rather have us be stagnit as a society rather than try to understand each other through talks and debate? Yes, there are those here who do not know much about their opponates view points and ideals. But when they come here talking like they do, they just show that they know nothing, and we, as the more educated, can point out their flaws in logic and knowledge. Thus progress it made. My personal belief is, if an idea or view cannot stand up to the logical attacts of others, then it is an invalid view point or idea. Only through this method can the trueth come out. So, if we don't try and attack each other's political view points, we might as well forget about the Declaration of Independance, The Constitution, and the 200+ years of growth that we have made as a society.------------------
