You ever notice how there is a pill for everything now? I was prescribed Zoloft for my panic attacks for the next NINE MONTHS. No, the doc never bothered to find out the cause of them, just said "oh, sometimes they happen, we'll give you a blood test and take these pills." I can't see a psychiatrist because I wasn't referred (next rant: "Insurance, bend over, it will only hurt a minute"). I STILL don't know what causes them. Side effects: KILLS your libido. Thirsty all of the time. Migranes. Try going three months without getting off and see how much of a happy camper you are. Rant! Rant! Rant! but sadly there is not a pill for stupidity, if there was i would dump the chemical in every water supply in the US starting with DC!I did the zoloft thing for about a year for depresion. It did nothing bad to my sexdrive at all, if anything it made me worse. i did have the dry mouth but not the migranes. I did feel kinda strange for awhile and going off of it was a real bitch. when the time comes to go off the zoloft they will try to give you a plan to go off of it. it dont work so watch out for the attacks again. Just wanted to warn you on that one. ------------------ Posted by Nene on Jun. 20 2000,14:04

people in DC are dumb, my mom is always compaining about the stupid thing someone did at work. i think in general people around here have a below average intelligence.

sorry hun but when i went off the zoloft the way they told me to i about killed myself because of the depression that hit. it took me 6 months of me telling them to leave me on it to get off of it. was at 100mg 2x day started taking 50 in the morning and 100 at night. then 50 m and 50 at night with 100 every other day then every 3rd day when i got down to 50 at morn and night i started with the 100 in the morn on even days and 50 m and 50 n on odd days till the 100 morning would last the day. then i went to 50 /100 then to 50 then to 50 every other day then every 3rd what they told me. I have far too much damned faith in my abilities.I never do any actual work.. i tend to unconciously think that because of my brainpower i can do everything the day before the exam and it'll be fine. Yes.. i have exams tomorrow. One computing essay style exam (essay style exams are my undoing). and maths (that i have done next to no work on all year, and have to pass.) I have a girlfriend (It's true, don't laugh) who has a few medical problems and the Doctors want her to take pain meds and things, but she had a surgery recently and wouldn't take any pills because they always make her sick to her stomach. I wonder if there's a pill to make you stop hating pills?------------------ Posted by Nero on Jun. 20 2000,22:04
proteun, lauging wouldn't have ever crossed my mind, but for some reason the way you worded that cracked me up. no offense.what i need is a pill that will heal my ankles. i roll them so much i'm not sure if i have any anymore. that's a surgery thing that's more or less fixable, but i just don't have time to be on crutches. oh well, i didn't plan on playing soccer in college anyway. Posted by j0eSmith on Jun. 20 2000,22:25
Nero.. have you tried ankle braces?
Posted by Nene on Jun. 21 2000,05:22
abilitiesDON'T call me honey and or hun. Please refer to "www.heartlessbitches.com" for my attitudes on that subject. I don't know what kind of dose you were getting, but I'm only taking 50mg once a day. Its not been a mood altering thing, it just keeps me from going over the top when I feel the need to panic. Its still dumb, since I don't know what is causing the attacks in the first place. I have faith in my abilities to heal, I tried to get over the panic attacks on my own, and lived with them for four months before I did anything about them. I finally had to give in and go get help (not being able to go grocery shopping is not conducive to survival). Thhbt. Not the Nene Posted by Wolfguard on Jun. 21 2000,09:40
quote: sorry Nene, i will never make that mistake again, i loved the site. I at one time i did know the reason i was on such a high dose, something about brain chemistry but i dont remember now. I just wanted to warn you what it will be like when you go off of it and how they are going to tell you to go off of it. Depression sucks but i know that panic attacks are 1000 times worse and i think i read(i read a lot when i thought i was going crazy) that 99\% of the time it can be traced to a single event that cant be remembered and the other time its medical. I realy wish you the best of luck in getting better. ------------------ Posted by Bozeman on Jun. 22 2000,10:41
I don't know how to do those fancy quotes, so Wolfguard said: "Want to know what my cure was? Finding faith. Not faith in a god or a religon but faith in myself. That is the best faith going."Couldn't have said it better myself. Posted by Sithiee on Jun. 23 2000,10:29
im taking methotrexate for psoriasis which could possibly fuck my liver, but i dont really care, im not planning on becoming a binge drinker anyway....heh, before i started taking it, the doctor was like "make sure you dont go out and drink while your on this"

only pill i take is MDMA, no medicine for anything, the occassional e trip is good for the senses, as long as you dont do it every day or week, ------------------ Posted by jrh1406 on Jun. 23 2000,17:59
While i understand that there is a reason for some medication, and that it actually does help people. I still have to laugh at some of those ads on TV for the drugs that cure some cosmetic problem while you pay for it with your liver and kidneys, like the stuff for nail fungus, the stuff runs in my family. My uncles doctor asked him if he wanted to be treated for it, It would have cleared up his toenails, but his liver would have packed up and left about halfway through the treatment. Who the hell would go through this sort of crap just to fix something that doesn't actually cause any harm to the body. It's like those ads with the side effects at the end, you know the ones "Side effects may include menstruation in men, leprosy, and expolding body parts. In studies, side effects were the same as a sugar pill." for all those who are on meaningfull medication to help a real problem, good luck. Posted by jptech on Jun. 29 2000,02:50

I've never had any kind of serious mental problem. I've always been fairly strong, mentally. However, about 6 months ago, I went through a period of about 5 days, where for absolutely no fucking reason I got extreme anxiety about nothing, and started having the most bizzare mood swings. I was totally stressed out (even though there was nothing to be stressed out over) and my head was a big muddled mess of random thoughts and confusion. And then poof, it was suddenly gone. I've never had anything like it before, and nothing since then either. It was so bizzare. One minute, I'm perfectly fine, then suddenly for a few days I'm a mess, and then poof, I'm great again. It's so weird. -FFox Posted by Nene on Jun. 29 2000,12:16

Posted by jptech on Jul. 01 2000,16:36
RenegadeSnark - Yes it is. If it's good it'll fuck you up right properly for a while, then you go to sleep and there's no bad effects. Only problem is it's a little expensive (well, only 20 bucks) and if you do too much it can screw you up pretty bad.

Actually, I have heard that ecstasy crystallizes in your brain. That kinda turned me off the idea of it. My friend said that he did research, and to the best of his knowledge, the only 100\% side-effect free drug was REAL magic mushrooms. Apparently, lots of mush is just regular mushrooms dipped in LSD, but he said the real kind are pretty harmless. So he tried them, and said he got totally whacked out, and didn't want to do them again but he says he has this nagging urge too.And then we took him out one night, and he barely had a few drinks of vodka and he was a mess. I wonder if he has an alcohol allergy... -FFox Posted by Sithiee on Jul. 02 2000,08:53
at the hfstival (huge ass concert) i came across some people on ecstasy, man that shit is funny...its so obvious too...anyways, i thought id share
Posted by jptech on Jul. 04 2000,21:46
Oh, it's totally obvious. Either people you've never met come up and ask you for a hug, or they're sitting on the ground swinging back-and-forth to the music and hugging themselves! It's hilarious. I did it once at home with a few other people and videotaped (part of)it. It was fucking funny! As compared to some other things you can do, the side-effects or after-effects aren't really that bad. I won't say that there aren't any, but they're not that bad. Posted by Firefox on Jul. 05 2000,15:58
At the big after-graduation party my class had at the Hard Rock Cafe a month ago, there were a lot of whacked out people. First of all, probably 2/3's of the people were drunk, and then there was a big group that was high on god knows what before they came. There is this little chinese guy named Ed who was in my grade, and he was high on something (ecstacy I think)... about 4 or 5 times throughout the span of a couple hours, he would stumble up to me out of the crowd and fling himself at me, arms outstreched. It was pretty funny, and talking about the party the next few days, I discovered that he had hugged almost every single person there. Crazyness. If only they could find a substitute that was 100\% side-effect free... they could liquidize it and put it into the world's water supplies, and all our problems with war and conflict would be over. -FFox Posted by nautilus on Jul. 05 2000,21:21
Here's my confusion about people and drugs. I was at the Dave Matthews Band concert on Monday, and there were tons of people there either smoking pot or high on ecstasy (not to mention all the extremely drunk people). What I don't get is why would anyone want to pay 50 bucks to go to a concert (which, I might mention, was very kick ass) and not be able to remember it??
Posted by jptech on Jul. 06 2000,02:18
I plan on being stoned off my ass at the DMB concert at the end of this month.I've been 4 times now and have never had a problem remembering it. Posted by Willy Pete on Jul. 06 2000,09:09
E doesn't make you forget mate, it makes you relax. There's also different 'brands' like doves which get their name from 'lovey-dovey' or the dove of peace. V cool. They make you very relaxed and want physical contact. E usually enlivens the senses, but be warned. DISCLAIMER: drugs can fuck you up if used/abused. Big thing with E is to have lots of water with you. The brain tends to overheat in raves and concerts due to the crowd temperature. Eggs are proteins, think what happens when you apply heat, they change structure. The brain doesn't control heat too well with E and so expect the same if you don't keep cool with liquids.------------------ Posted by *Feste* on Jul. 06 2000,23:25
quote: When I visited Ireland a couple of months back I found myself in Magic Mushroom season... the things grow wild in the parks and in the hugest bunches. All you see all day are hundreds of whacked out hippies with plastic shopping bags grovelling around on their knees... was quite funny.... Anyways, with regards depression... doesn't it freak you guys out how the average age of people on anti-depressants has dropped so badly? I mean... look how many of us have been on them already! ------------------ Posted by jptech on Jul. 07 2000,01:30
I agree with the water thing with Ecstacy, but it's also fun to have things that taste GOOD to drink. Try fruit juices, interesting sodas, that sort of thing.
Posted by Firefox on Jul. 07 2000,02:47
No, drink Reverage!! It's an intriguing blend of water, caffeine, cola nut extract, guarva root extract, and vodka! It's marketed as 'the' raver drink, because it contains more water than most coolers, caffeine to keep them going, and a plastic bottle that is easy to carry while dancing (supposedly). They taste somewhat like a liquified blueberry gummy bear, only a little more bitter. They also made my friend very sick, so I guess they aren't for everyone. They are actually kinda gross, but at the same time, they are strangely appealing. Worth trying at least once I would say. Yum.But water is still the best for pure rehydration. Sports drinks and that can be good because they give sugars, etc. that help keep the body going during long, strenous physical activity, but water is still the best choice if you want to quench your thirst. -FFox ------------------ Posted by psychopharmacologist on Jul. 12 2000,20:18
Oh my god that drink sounds awesome!!how do i got about getting it? Where? How? and How much? ------------------ Posted by Firefox on Jul. 13 2000,19:17
quote: You should be able to find them in the cooler section of any liquor store. I know that my local liquour store (which is really small and has a limited selection) carries them, so I would guess that most stores do. A box of 4 Rev's costs about บ CDN (Ů-ů US I would guess) up here, so it's pretty comparable with most coolers (although the bottles are a little smaller so in actuality, it's more expensive). Just ask the clerk if they have any Reverage. If they aren't sure, tell them it's the weird blue cooler drink, and they should know if they have them. -FFox ------------------ "A christian, an anarchist-slash-prostitute, figures out the true meaning of freedom. Firefox, it doesn't. E just messes your endorfin, adrenaline, Li(2+), and some other balances in you brain. Problem is that your brain is running at too high pace, and your body just moves along until you drop. You can actually compare it to overclocking a computer. Often nothing happens other than you get more power, but sometimes you'll destroy the shit and you've got a problem. E can do permanent damages to your brain, because it's designed to burn out "links" between some of your brain centers for a while. Just not every "link" it burns out can be restored. And if it's a fatal link, you'll go "insane"...Then you get out burning out a few more of them, and maybe another fatal one, and you'll get more insane and so on...One of my friends in my lab has just made a pill that gives purple hair...we tried it on a rat and it worked...he's trying to get some real tests done on it and start producing it to the public There is a pill for everything...almost [This message has been edited by Kolben (edited July 14, 2000).] Posted by Willy Pete on Jul. 14 2000,11:52

Orange detnet logos. Now that'd be a sport! And animated too perhaps? The color on the rat was a bit like the color on the milka - cow. A bit darker. But it was a white rat we tried it on (fead the pill to it when it was little and hadn't grown most of its hair yet. But the parent rats were white). And it probably acts differently on humans anyway tho'. Maybe ALL your hair would get purple. People would start looking really funny... Posted by Firefox on Jul. 15 2000,04:41
What about side effects? clearing up the ecstacy issue:ecstacy replaces sterotin in your sterotin nerves. this is released into the synapses of surounding nerves, causing the desired effects... the problem with this is that this produces dopamine and while not too bad, it is bad if it gets up into your sterotin nerve. it gets broken down into an oxidant (imagine hydrogen peroxide in your brain). Posted by Bozeman on Aug. 23 2000,11:18
I know that purple is more exciting, but if you could make a pill that gave normal hair colors, you could amke a killing. Why dye when a pill a day keeps the gray away? (catchy jingle, muhahahaha!)
