250 million to play baseball?
20 mill to stand in front of a camera and spew shit that some other fucknugget wrote?

Why cant MLB just get together and say no to these fuckers? They wont get 250 mil if no one pays it. Same with the movie people. Quit throwing money at them and they will stop trying to act like gods around the people(us) that put them where they are.

This disconected rant was brought to you by the letters f and u.

its economics man. they get paid that much because people want to see them that much. when 50,000 people go to see baseball games for all the games for all the teams, something must be goin on

perhaps stars give hope to millions who would otherwise crash throught their empty existance, unable to fill the gaping void provided by their insipid idols. perhaps they play a star role as testaments to the shallow future that is modern life! perhaps they should be showered in riches and sucked dry by the most fertile women of the land!! perhaps they should be worshipped as the true gods of the new age!! or maybe i'm just bitter that noone's throwing all this money my way. yeah. that must be it.

you have a good point, but you're directing it at the wrong people. i know i wouldn't mind getting paid all that money in exchange for basically just projecting a specific image, or in the case of sports, doing something i loved. how much must the people above them - corporate heads, owners, assorted fucknuts - be making to afford forking over these crazy salaries? prolly more than the useful people will ever see. oh, nevermind. everyone would just shrivel up and die without corporate entertainment. boo hoo!

Sort of..actually, ya, you're right. They get paid that much 'cause the owners think that 'they' will be a big enough draw and/or help the teams performance and therefore increase the number of tickets sold. Same with movies; invest in a good/popular actor and the draw will be worth it when the profits start pouring in.. If you want them to get paid less, STOP GOING TO MOVIES AND SPORTING EVENTS. AND KILL EVERYONE THAT DOES

That would explain why it cost me 100 bucks to take my wife to an Indians game, and all I did was park, watch the game, get a drink for each of us, and eat a hotdog.

And movies piss me off even more. You can pay more for the fucking popcorn then the ticket. We have a Tinsletown in my area (really really big screens), and I have to pay ů to get in and 4.50 for a damn drink. They load the cup so damn full of ice I have no room for the drink, and the popcorn - don't even get me started.

Perhaps that is why I bought a DVD player - high quality audio and video for a fraction of the price. DVD rentles are 0.99 in my area.

try this simple phrase: "Large coke, with NO ICE." saves you lots of money on soda.

Walk in with a coat that has a lot of pockets. Fill pockets with cans of pepsi. Problem solved!

In the local theaters they will not let you get drinks with no ice, and they check coates. I have tried these already, but even if they didn't would I really take a girl on date and show her how cheap I am? I think not, so I do what any red-blooded American would do - bend over and take the raping of a leasure driven society.

Thats strange, the theater near me lets you bring in food. I went to see Trespass when it came out and right before the movie started I heard alot of tin foil ruffling and the whole theater started smelling like chicken after about 10 minutes. Me and my buddy always bring in stuff like gatorade or food and they dont say anything.

they wont let you have no ice? thats bullshit. demand to see it in writing. if they cant show it to you, they cant put ice in your drink. tell them you are alergic to ice. get some doctor to sign off on it. just find a way to kick their asses to the curb. thats just bullshit...

A more reasonable one would be to say that your dentist says that you can't drink anything that cold, because your teeth are hypersensitive, but your docter told you you need to keep drinking, which means if they can't give you a drink with no ice, they have to let you drink your own drink.

Hey! How about spending the 250 million needed to pay the stupid actor to instead write a decent script! End of Days, anyone? How much did Swartzenager (Bah...can't spell0r) get paid to do it? And how satisfied were you?!

actors don't usually write scripts. writers do.

well, the most notable exception is probably kevin smith.

he's just fucking amazing as a writer, and as silent bob.

Kuru, I think Cyclone meant use the money they pay the actor to pay the writer which in Kevin Smith's case would probably be a fair deal (I only realised recently that he was Silent Bob and I fucking love that character).

Cyclone, they paid Schwarzenegger all that money because he's a bankable star because they know that foolish people with an internet nickname like Cyclone will go and see the film anyway despite all the reviews giving it one star. No offence but I didn't even bother going to see it. Same as I haven't seen Titanic, they made enough money and if I have to look at stupid fucking americans thinking they're Irish one more time I'LL go and sink the fucking ship.

Anyway, I'll move away from being mildly offensive and say that people like the Rodriguez guy (the baseball player, not sure if that's his name) and Keane over here (he's the closest thing and he only gets about 2 million a year and we think he's spoilt) get so much money because the teams know that it's worth paying that much money because with their ability and their draw they can make more than that money back. Figo was bought for 37 million not because he's actually worth that much but because Real knew that if they broke the transfer record then there would be a lot of attention which means extra publicity which means more chance to sell cheap tack and make money off the guys name as well as his football.

Someone else said that they should share the money out to the little people aswell. Nobody needs particular little persons, a guy working the camera on a film can't ask for a mill because they can just get some other geek who never wanted to point a camera anyway, he always wanted to tell someone else to point the camera and then fire them for doing it too slowly.
cheers
