I brought this up in the last bbs cr0bar had too: 'Scene Whores - A well known threat to hackers'. Girlie's who want you, just because of the 'hacker dick' you possess in your pants. Go figure.

That article is right on the money! There are plenty of girls that find the computer savvy type attractive. Not because they look good, but because we make excellent pay, have nice things, know lots of people... The list goes on. Computer geeks are like the casual professional. We make the same cash as the execs, yet we can work from home in our undies, make or break a company...

If I remember correctly Bill Gates wife is a hottie...

There is a flip side to this coin though. There are women who are completely turned OFF by the fact that you have anything to do with computers. They immediately assume you will spend everynight at home in a dark corner playing (insert mp game of choice here) online till the wee hours of the morning.

I've had the unfortunate experience to have run into both! I ran an IS department a few years ago, and was picked up by one of our help desk chicks (mmmmmmmmmmm, she looked so good) anywho, she used me up for contacts and stuff, quit and went to another job for more money, and dumped me in the process. I was engaged until about 2 weeks ago. This paticular women was ANTI-Computer. She would sit her ass on the couch and watch damn stupid ass sit-coms all night long, and if I even touched my computer she would throw a coniption. Needless to say, the computer won this battle and she moves the rest of her shit out of my house tonight!!!!!

seriously, its the whole like "adventurous" aspect, scene whores think its cool when a guy has been arrested 10 times for computer fraud.

maybe cr0bar, it is because you are not a 'l33t hax0r', that you do not have chicks crawling... then again 'el numero uno' is kind of a cool title too.

I doubt that many of us would have encountered scene whores at our age, but I can see it happening within a few years for most of us. I think during the high school years most girls are just disinterested. Shortly after that is where I predict the age group that this would begin. Perhaps 19-25.

If you think about it, there has always been women like that. Women who are in it for the money, to hitch a ride in the fame band wagon... Look at TV, movie stats, other artists... It is incredible that some of the ugliest and oldest of men can get the women that they do.

This trend has just found a new source for gold-digging as computer(related) industry booms... (I would've thought that some people would be glad of this

On that note, I wish my bf would hurry up and start earning tons of money everyones been talking about. I did it the proper way. I got him in the early stages.

Yeah, but the guys buying the nice cars and chicks mad jewlery are generally not into computers. "Computer people" from what I've seen are usually too reclusive and..disinterested to care about such possesions.

I have a close friend who is a techno weenie as well, and hasn't had a girlfriend in some time. I harrased him about this the other day, and he responded that he hasn't had time for one. He said that he'd been too busy with computers.

Actually, I wouldn't mind to being the one earning big bucks :) Unfortunately I have to stay in my shithole of a job for at least half a year more before I can quit and find a better one. Don't want a horrible job history on my resume. ;) My bf keeps telling me to 'Hurry up and start earning those big bucks so I (he) can bludge.' I reply, 'No, you're the one who is going to end up with doctorate. YOU earn the big bucks!'

If only I think the lottery is a worthwhile investment -> If only I won the lottery -> *wakes up from slumber* -> DOH! :(

More and more people are going into the computer industry merely because of the money. You have to admit that not all these people are "techno weenies" only passionate about computers and computer-related issues. I have acquaintances who have taken up "computers" because of the money they are anticipating later on. They seem to have no problems flashing their cash around, strutting and trying to chat up women. Actually, I work with a couple of them right now *roll eyes*

Similarly, not all artists are in it for the money. It would be nice to have, but for the handful, it is not _THE_ motivation. It would be nice to have, but it is not the driving force. (I am not going to mention those that started off this way but were corrupted on the way) Why would it be different in the computer industry? :)

personally if i were a girl i would not attempted to fuck over/manipulate a guy who's been in jail for computer fraud, etc.. i have that little manifesto on how to destroy someone's life.. and that was written by someone who only uses a little social engineering here and there.. Mebbe some1 should post that as a warning as to what can be accomplished with only minimial effort and a BAD disposition...

on the topic of scene whores though...id say theres two sides to it. If your teh type of guy who doesnt wanna relationship, but just wants to get laid, whats the problem with having a scene whore to fuck?

On the other hand, i can see where this is bad...theres this assfuck at my school whos got a hot girlfriend who is constantly flirting with me (not because im l33t =(), and i wouldnt really mind umm...i guess stealing is the word im looking for...stealing her from him, but then i would lose lots of other friends, and it probably wouldnt be worth it. I think one simple rule applies: If a friendship is at stake, dont let a dirty whore get in the way, no matter how hot she is (dammit, she's really hot too =()...yeah, ok

okay im gunna take that personally. while i may not always be able to articulate what i say as perfect as u or the rest of the detnet community would like, my point was simple, with a small amount of effort u can destroy a person's credit, no hacking needed. You'd think a scene whore would key in on something like that.

hummer's are sorta expensive round 30k for the civlian version round 60k for a decommisioned military version. In the Civ version they've removed just about all the cool features too.. autoinflating tires, bulletproof windows.. a body structure that can tumble a few times and only get slightly dented..etc..

They come off the same assy. line, fucknugget.
They have the same frames, They start at 60k for a civ model that is ready to drive when delivered (worth driving). You can get them with the kevlar bodys and the reinforced glass(bullet proof)for 72-80K.

Well, see, if I buy a hummer, I most likely wont buy another car, ever. But most people get a new sports car atleast every 5 years. And I want a military hummer, even tho they are almost the same, it's... different somehow.

The ones fire departments use are modified civilian models, now THEY kick ass!!!

i apologize for being innaccurate. I sorta went with what a friend told me seeing how there was a huge demand for a low cost civ version, and the original manufacturing plants couldnt keep up with a demand the were never designed to handle so they had to "streamline" the design. He was wrong, i'll inform him.

I know they have the same Frame! It's the interior that's totally different! But that's like saying that a Chevy Suburban is the same as a Yukon denali??? Actually that's even not so bad!! Military hummers have no doors, glass, nothing that doesn't stop a bullet. If you look at the ones the Fire Departments have, they have real seats, the interior isn't made of metal, and a number of other things.

personally, i've been in the computer 'scene' since like '90 and i've never even heard of something like a scene whore. that doesn't mean they dont exist, just that they're probably not very prolific.
and that computer scene sexchart is one of the stupidest things i've seen in a long ass time

Yeah, there are very likely "scene whores" out there, but don't expect Cindy Crawford-types.

Also, you all would have to tear yourself away from the computer long enough to go out and be exposed to them.

I have to say- of the last 4 guys I dated 3 of them were computer geeks...you know something I liked them more then the guy that wasn't. The reason for this is not because of money but because over all they were more intelligent, more understanding, and I actually felt like I could talk to them about something other then their exs (seeing as most of them hardly came out of their houses). I wouldn't ever consider myself a computer/techie type person so I could never be accused of being a "scene whore" as it were because I dont need those contacts. I think grrls who do this kind of thing need to be shot- its sad- make yer own money and get a life- you don't need a man to make your way in the world.
