I hate the fucking idiots (who will remain nameless... mqa) who register an account, then post in like 50 topics and add some stupid comment about what we were talking about 2 days ago. I don't want to see 50 red folder icons because of that f00l. I think it should be a law you can only post in threads that were made while you were part of the boards. If it was started before that, too damn bad!

I do try to read things before I post but theres the problem with this board where you can't view comments in a nested fashion, like Slashdot. It's kinda sucky when your comment goes to the bottom of the pile, especially when it's regarding a comment higher up the topic.

Wapaahh!!! I mean Wrhdiicch! I totally agree. And I also think that way too many threads gets spawned here! There's no way to read them all using my dialup connection.

Heh, what does having dialup have to do with not being able to read them all? I have dialup and I'm keeping up ok. So =p

Some of the threads to suck nuts, but then again some don't, gotta take the good with the bad. Not being able to post in threads that were started would be dumb. But having some sort of rating system like /.'s would be nice.

/me starts to dream ...

Maybe users could have karma and the BBS could filter out messages posted by users with a karma less than a preset number. Oh well, I can dream =)

hummmmmmmm.....I'm sure that I've got enough karma!

My dialup is crappy! Don't know about yours...It takes about 15 mins to load a page in the Blade bastardization. And it takes about 3 mins to load a page in this bbs.

It's just that I have other stuff to do in my life, than sitting here waiting for hours. Have to play quake with my friends...

Don't be upset Lizzy, things arent that bad. I believe that in even a few days the overwhelming surge of posts will die down a bit, after the adjustment to the board people will stop posting just to see themselves on the board. So only the die hard det.net fans and a few newbies will be posting. I don't think there's a reason to ban anybody from a thread, but that doesn't mean you can't flame their mailbox, or start a new rant against them.

I agree with Proteun. I mean, I love this place, but just *look* at the Classroom forum. Theres a few places I post each day, and I can't be getting by with *two* slashdot-sized forums. I like to do my posting, do some surfing, etc. But sweet bejeezus, I can't keep up ... I hope it dies down to be honest.

That said, people are blatantly posting to be a l33t hax0r, aren't they? That's a flaw in the system, baby! Should be done on some kind of moderation points.

Ah well. Hoping the dust will clear,

Well, I hate to add to the total mis-direction of this thread, but I'm on a 56k modem that dials up on 56000bps every connection in the UK, my two ISP's are free 24/7, with no charges whatsoever, one is an 0845 number through my telco, the other is a hax0red AOL 0800 access number (the one I'm on now) and both are fast as greased lightning, and I rarely fail to get 5.5k/sec d/l speeds, which is almost unheard of in the UK.

Also going by the thread of this post, I arent prejudiced, I hate everyone, just in varying degrees.

I am on a LAN, just not cr0bar's. I never said I was on cr0bar's. Where do you get such ideas?

My real IP address is of the 192.168.x.x variety. A FreeBSD box passes me through to 10meg switched ether, then fiber, then an OC12 to the Chicago NAP. From there, it's a pretty quick couple of hops to cr0's dedicated server which I highly doubt he hosts in his house, near his house, and probably not even in his state. Look at this:

nslookup < www.detonate.net > -> 209.217.42.44
nslookup 209.217.42.1 -> bunchacrap.oklahoma.net

Go to < www.oklahoma.net, > find the hosting section, check the contact info and their offices are listed in Texas and Oklahoma. I know of a number of co-location providers that operate out of Texas, so I'm going to guess that's where the server is.

Now, as for cr0bar, he's made references to Hawaii in past news posts, so I'm guessing that's where he is.

These are good assumptions. I get fucking pissed off at people who make bad assumptions.

Well Im glad to say while Im in college I use the following:

3Mbit Microwave connection
to a
Quad channel ISDN
to
8 T3's and every page loads up instantly and download speeds never drop below 120k/sec

but at home I have a 56k using a ok ISP and like Kayy I use a hack0red AOL account too.
