Are these sorts of actions justifiable? If one of the companies developing bio-engineered plants/animals messes up, the consequences to the rest of the world could be extreme and it's doubtful the company would be in any position to make restitution. Is it right to destroy property in an effort to prevent this sort of gambling with our quality of life? Is that the most productive way to deal with bio-engineering risks?

the answer is no.

In your country, they are a radical minority. In this country, they are part of the government. Any questions?

eco-terrorists deserve to be eaten alive by blind vultures with bad aim while being hung upside-down with dull, rusty barbed wire and having insufficiently-cooked, genetically-altered cow meat fed to them through a tube going directly to their stomach that was inserted by an antisocial hobo with AIDS using only his teeth and a shoehorn and paid บ only if he did it in over five tries.

Seriously--terrorism is terrorism, and the guilty parties should be punished as severely as a common criminal (the worst punishment for a terrorist) can be, under the law.

Q:When is terrorism not terrorism?

A:When it is electronic terrorism!

Terrorism \Ter"ror*ism\, n. [Cf. F. terrorisme.] The act of terrorizing, or state of being terrorized; a mode of government by terror or intimidation.

Maybe it's just me, but the thought of someone using a computer to terrorize someone else sounds very outlandish to me.

*edit* I am leaving out.

They should have just toiletpapered and katchup/mayonaisse bombed the SUVs during the night...bombing an SUV dealership doesnt do anything. Its like when Im coming home from work, people that cut in front of me always are screwed. They dont realize im behind them for most of the way home and I see where they turn off to goto their house...

the IRA has nothing to do with ecoterrorism.

liney is actually from germany and i think she is talking about greenpeace trying to derail a train carrying nuclear waste in protest or something. kinda dumb logic if you ask me...

[hippiesatire]hey, this armored reinforced train is carrying dangerous nuclear waste which will give all of our rotting corpses cancer in 1500 years! right through our back yard! well 200 miles away. same difference. let's go de-rail it! yeah! that'll make things safe for everyone![/hippiesatire]

they bombed an SUV dealership?

Terrorism is terrorism, and bombing is bad, mmmkay... but... I loathe, hate, and despise SUVs... so reading that brought a happy smile to my face

why would it make you feel better knowing an innocent middle class owner of a car dealership has lost a huge amount of money and property?

they should have bombed a SUV factory or something. they fucked up, and blew up the wrong target. well actually they were probably just trying to get attention, not do major harm. but poin being...

Well, to answer all those questions: No, I am not a red-haired northern Irish IRA terrorist. (Btw, aren't they fighting for freedom, not for ecology?)

As CK already said, I am German... in Germany, we do have those eco-activists (and their activism comes pretty close to terrorism) who try to prevent nuclear power by interfering with every transport of "nuclear waste". They don't exactly try to derail those trains, but they chain themselves to the rails, for example. It is pretty stupid because they cannot stop the use of nuclear power that way, but they make the transports way more difficult and dangerous that way. There's always a lot of cops around, and media, and everything, and the whole thing really gets some sort of scandal each time. It is plain madness... but they don't see that with their activism they make nuclear power a lot more dangerous instead of stopping it.

Besides, we have the green (ecologist) party as coalition partner in government. That means that the green party has got a lot of influence on political decisions, and they use it... It is quite a mess. Well, we've had conservative government for 16 years, and in 1998 it appeared to be "time for a change" - people voted differently. Now we've got socialdemocratic/green party government. No comment on that.

Those damn paramilitaries in Northern Ireland piss me off. I mean, the IRA is suppose to be fighting for us ?? We don't want the damn north !!!!!

Ireland in general is fucked. And it's early britain's fault, IIRC.

We go over, claim some of it. Have families there.

Now some want to stop, some want it to belong to GB.

Like I said, nothing anyone can resolve == fucked.

wow. that's amazing, dude... cut 'em off at the source! fuck SUVs, damn it!!!

in a just world, the penalty for using a cell phone while driving would be ฤ - unless you happened to be driving an SUV, in which case the penalty would be death. Those motherfuckers try to smash me into the center rail a couple times a week...

Eco-Terrorism scares the bejeesus out of me. Anyone ever read Rainbow Six (Tom Clancy)? Basically what happens, is, the CEO of a large drug manufacturer buddies up with a "nature clan" and they decide that they'll kill off everyone on earth, except for themselves, and a select few, because they are the solution to pollution. Aiee.
