i fucking hate the heat. it was nice and cold in here but they turned on the server and it went from 65 to 80 overnight oh yeah i also hate the weather, especially in d.c. i hate it when it's so hot outside that you sweat just standing still. and when the air quality is so bad you aren't allowed to pump gas in your car until after dark. stupid industrial age. Welcome to the east coast!------------------ Posted by LiNeY on Jun. 26 2001,16:47
School gym. A good 200 people. Sunshine. About 30 Celsius (no idea about Fahrenheit... hey CK you are a physicist you should know both systems!). No windows opened. Political debate. Sweating while sitting still. Would you be grateful for that? Posted by KL1NK on Jun. 26 2001,20:15
30ºC = 86ºF

F = C * 3 (roughly)right?... I need to stop drinking this damned lemonade and get some caffine in me... ------------------ Posted by blanalex on Jun. 26 2001,21:10
F = C * 9 / 5 + 32

askheaves i have that here too. we had a code red air day today, which means the air quality is dangerously poor. usually takes my car 20 minutes to get nice and cold. oh and also, this little dent in my windshield has been growing at about 5 mm a day everytime i park and come back its bigger. the heat is causing air inside the crack to expand and crack it further. i need a new windshield now.

not allowd to pump gas till after dark?? wtf?? and ck, dont complain about the heat until youve been mowing lawns in it. for 10 hours. and then your partner is too wussy to ask for the amount of money we deserve for the job. im glad i start my new indoor job on monday. hooray for indoors!------------------ quote: Posted by askheaves on Jun. 27 2001,14:59
I'm sorry, CK... but the high here today is going to be 102. That's because we're getting into monsoon season and it's cooling off. And that dry heat stuff is total bullshit. An oven is dry heat too. When it's windy out, it's like standing in a giant hair dryer. For 3 months, this place sucks total ass.But, then, it's in the 70's all winter long... so I can smile again. Posted by CatKnight on Jun. 27 2001,15:17
do you have smog so bad that the sky is grey everywhere yet the sun is still shining? thought not.
Posted by askheaves on Jun. 27 2001,15:38
Naw. Our air is pretty good. We just have a little yellow NOx cloud on weird mornings. Phoenix is pretty bad. It exists in a valley/ bowl, so any pollution can't leave and accumulates over time. Pretty bad.I'm not complaining about pollution. I like our air. But when you bitch about temperature, I'm gonna wipe the sweat from my brow and smack ya. I don't know how the homeless people around here do it, being outside all day begging on the medians. I guess the dope and 12 packs of Natural Light help quite a bit. know what you mean, askheaves. It gets up in the hundreds here, too - dry heat, but it sucks total ass. I'm sure you have a lot of more of 100+ days in AZ... hah! hah! hah!on really hot days, you can drive out to the coast. northern CA coastal temps in the summer are usually between 50-70 degrees... in the middle of the summer you can go somewhere and actually be cold. Hell, it even rains sometimes Posted by jrh1406 on Jun. 28 2001,10:48
There may be more hot days in arizona, but it can't beat RI for humidity, (maybe some of the other southern states can though. Did you know that you can get 100\% humidity, and it won't rain? Or that when it's 100 degrees out and the humidity hovers around 90-100\% you can see your breathe?

hrm... coastal san diego weather VERY GOOD...inland san diego weather VERY BAD... ------------------ Posted by Spydir on Jun. 28 2001,19:18
I don't go outside much... today I looked at our thermometer thing and it said 91... then again, my little thermometer in here says 84, so I'm not that far off...and before someone gets on my case with the "you need to be outside more", trust me, with my blacklights, I'll have the same about of skin cancer as you do when we're all old and shit. ------------------ Posted by masher on Jun. 29 2001,02:02

to cenvert celcius to kelvin just add 273 to the degrees celciushowever to conver to Fahrenheit precicely i've seen a big ass formula for that Temperature Fahrenheit to Celcius : -32, *5, /9. Celcius to Fahrenheit : *9, /5, +32. dunno if this works, but this is the fist and simplest conversion formula that popped up in the yahoo search it might ne inaccurate, but better then nothing ------------------ Posted by Rhydant on Jun. 29 2001,18:44
no, thats right. thats how you convert the 2 things.but for an easier way, you could just multiply by 9/5 (nine-fifths) or 5/9 (five-ninthes). screw the other way. ------------------ Posted by damien_s_lucifer on Jun. 30 2001,03:41
kornalldaway, the formulas you give are exact. Both Farenheit and Celsius are based on the freezing and boiling points of water at sea level (exactly 1 atmosphere of pressure).32 degrees F = freezing point of water = EXACTLY 0 deg. C There are 180 degrees between the freezing and boiling point in the Farenheit scale, and 100 degrees in the Celsius scale. 180 / 100 = 9/5. You have to add or subtract 32 to compensate for the offset in the Farenheit scale. Other facts about Farenheit : - The 180 degrees between the m.p. and b.p. of water is not at all accidental. I have no idea who thought they were going to be doing trigonometry with temperature, though. - The 32 degree offset was chosen so that normal human body temperature would be 100 degrees. - Unlike most SI measurements, Celsius has no clear advantage over Farenheit. In fact, a Farenheit thermometer will be read more accurately* by your average human being than a Celsius one, because the increments are smaller. Personally, I say we Americans adopt meters, liters, etc., but draw the line at the Celsius scale - "it's 40 degrees in Arizona" is just not as impressive as "fuck, man, it's 104 outside."

Its been hotter than a motherfucker up here. I have to drive every day in my heatbox- no air no nothing in traffic for a 2 hours every day- so beat that.I love Arizona- the dry heat isnt as bad as the fucking humidity though a.h. I would rather be stuck in a 102 degree heat without the humidity then 85 degree heat where when you sweat it just stays on you. Bleh fucking New York. ------------------ Posted by Dark Knight Bob on Jul. 24 2001,18:03

It's over 95 every day in San Antonio. Sometimes it gets down to 80 at night! Enjoy!------------------ Posted by Cyrino on Jul. 24 2001,20:37
Hey, you can all fuck off...Has anyone ever had to wear a NOMEX suit? I work in a plant and that shit doesn't breathe. Oh, and the heat wave we're having here, it's like 98 plus the humidity which puts it over 105 or something... ------------------ Posted by askheaves on Jul. 24 2001,20:53
Again. Just stop complaining about the heat. Until you set your thermostat at 85 degrees to avoid 跌 electric bills, you can cram it. It's very VERY rare to have a day not go over 100 in the summer here for the majority of the day. I walk to my car at 8:30AM sweating like a bandit. This is the stupidest place in America to live for about 3 months. Shoes melt.... SHOES MELT!!!But, I'll stop complaining around October when it's still 70 each day... and then bragging when it's Februrary and around 70 each day. Posted by demonk on Jul. 24 2001,21:20
Man, it's just too hot up here in Oregon. I think it was almost 80 degrees yesterday!!! Can you believe that?!? And night is just horrible. It only goes down to around 50 degrees or so. I almost have to sleep naked with just one sheet.Ok, I'll stop bragging about the mild summers up here. Most of you have it much worst than I do. Enjoy the sun! ------------------ Posted by LiNeY on Jul. 24 2001,21:28

i guess i'm not so bad off, here in georgia, USA. 90's for six months, then 40's and 50's. i hate cold. 67F is too cold for me. i'm right at home in 105 in the shade. i'm a lizard.although glider cockpits get around 135F. that sucks. ------------------ |
