Im not sure how many of you have heard but Napster paired up with BMG and now they may actulley be making us pay a goddamn fee to download songs. I think this is total bull shit and defeates the whole purpose of Napster.

I think smartsnake means it defeats his whole purpose of Napster. The whole purpose of Napster is something that only Napster Inc can decide.

man, its a real shame that i pretty much never use napster to download my music...other proggies take care of that quite well

it was only a matter of time until this happened. but in the long run this sort of thing may actually be _good_. for now, just hope that they implement it in a reasonable way (like, optional registration or some such).

yeah man, its an outrage that napster decided to take many napster users comments on how they wouldnt be against paying a fee to use it, and actually implementing it. and charging people to use a service that provides them with all the free music they can download (which looked like it was going to become illegal)...man, what bitches!

be thankful for what you get away with, and remember the good times. dont bitch because someone decides they have a different idea of how to control their company than you think they should.

well, i think we all know what this means:

go get yer music while ya can.

but this sucks for me. im getting a < cd burner > soon. and i was gonna get those big 50 cd-rs for 30 bucks spindels and burn songs for people at school. they make a list, i get music from napster, i charge 3 bucks for each cd. mwahahah! thats a great plan! money money money!

Napsters time may have come. Although I do enjoy using napster due to the large amount of songs avaliable on it, if napster makes people pay for the service, the selection of songs will become dismal at best, and a new standard will be adapted. piracy cannot be kept from the people my friends.

I hate the people around that know nothing about napster/comps, and think that they get things "Off of Napster"...stupid people that don't understand client-client connections and such...okay I'm done

Was this posted in jest, Rhydant? I'm not sure. If it wasn't, well take it from my experience--it's not worth the trouble. Get a burner for yourself and maybe your close friends.

50 CDs = ŭ.00
1 CD-RW = 贶.00 (your Plexor is a bad deal)
Time to find 15+ songs for 1 CD = ~1 hour (with DSL)
Time to burn 15+ songs for 1 CD = ~20 minutes

Money earned = ū.00 per ~hour (that's if you have a market and no cheaper competition--people will do it for free)

It will take you 52 burned CDs to break even.

It will take you *approximately* 52 hours+ of your time to break even.

Instead, if you decide to apply for a part-time job at, say, CompUSA, you can earn Ů.50 an hour *and* download all the mp3s you want to burn on their CD burners. That's 跲 or 趮 after taxes of money earned.

So 趮 + all the mp3s you can stomach, or Ũ and + all the mp3s you can stomach plus the risk of suspension, idiotic customers that change their minds, and so on?

I did the whole "gemme a list of songs I'll burn you a cd" thing for a while. I had a couple repeat customers, and little competition (people tried, but I was the most reliable kid doing it. One kid would take literally a month to burn your cd). I got sick of it cuz a lot of people started asking me to bootleg stuff (overly illegal, I can atleast defend myself in court over the mp3's) and I got sick of having to bust my ass for 5 bucks a cd. I didn't buy my burner, so I didn't have to work off the money, but I was actually losing some money doing that. A lot of kids would be like "I got it a day later then you told me, that's a dollar lower"... lucky I struck fear in people, so they'd be like "uhh... just kidding man, here! here's your money!"

. I finally stopped when one kid just shoved a list in my face and said "this is what I want, make it for tomorrow" and I said "fuck you bitch, I quit that bull.". Don't start it if you're thinking it, cuz when you finally stop you have to practically announce it on national television that you stopped or else you'll keep having people come to you for that "one last time, man" bull...

a little while back...

well, with the aid of my new computer, cd burner, napster, people coming to me to install theyre kickass games on my comp, i started a good cd burning business.
at least thats what i thought. untill i met some asshole called oleg. all cds i make him dont work on his comp, and he says its my fault, so now im like "you rather start to fuck off sooner or accept your products better" and he got pissed. so screw that- i just got a real job and told oleg to screw himself.

now i burn cds for myself, and hot chicks.

From what I understand (and don't quote me on this)... it is now legal to burn cd's because they are taxing the cd-r's.

The money that comes from the tax goes to the artist... therefore they are getting paid.

also the government can't tax something that's illegal... so by taxing it they make it legal, so just don't make money off of it and your fine

(so just overcharge people for parts h3h4w don't you love getting around things?)

hmm...well we do have some hot chicks, its just that they are all abercrombie and fitches bitches, so not only are they out of my league, but most of em wouldnt be worth it anyway...maybe you could send me a couple of your hot centreville chicks...
