Anyone know how to make ICQ 2000 stop added the "From ICQ" and "Links" folders into my IE Favorites list? It's so fucking annoying and I can't find it anywhere in it's options...

Only the "from ICQ" folder is created by ICQ, I think. I do believe the "Links" folder is made by IE itself. And that was even in 99b that ICQ made that folder. Small annoyance that I just deal with. Adds one/two measly line(s) to my Favorites display. BFD.

the links folder in internet explorer is what shows up on the links bar. I've got all my regular hits on my links bar, it takes way too long to use favorites.

Well, I think it's incredibly annoying. Do either of you know how to remove the respective folders (permanently)?

Just go to 'Organize Folders' and delete the folder. Did ICQ bring it back or something?

Yep. I delete it, then like 5 or 10 minutes later it's back. Same with the Links folder...

Just another reason you should stick with version 98a, before they added so much fluff. It still works fine for me, but if you give them a chance they'll break it so you have to upgrade. I had to install it with my internet connection unplugged, then in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Mirabilis\ICQ\DefaultPrefs
Change 'AutoUpdate' to 'No'

Doing this before it could update anything conveniently stopped all the problems I ever had with 98a. Just reinstalling, and reformatting and reinstalling didn't work.
