A trusted friend (who I once believed harbored a shred of intellect) recently sent the following email to eight of his friends, myself included: quote:

choosing public education has indirectly given many of these annoying emails. especially the ones about how a little boy/girl/wife/husband has cancer and is going to die unless you get 3 billion fowards or something so gill bates will give 10c per referal or something. i walked over to these people at lunch and they were talking about it and i told them not to be so fucking stupid and they said "it says if you delete this then you have no heart" and then they said i was a idiot so i said to my self "hehehehe i'll show them" so i fowarded it to the manager at ZDNET (where they were getting "10c per foward" from and then i recieved the reply i was expecting so then i told them all of and fowarded it to them and now i sit and gamble and play cards at lunch time instead of "chillin" with the populars.AND THEN WHAT THE FUCK DO THEY DO??!?!? i didn't take them off my icq list - BAD MISTAKE!!!!!!!! the nex few days i get at least 20 snowball fights/foward or delete msgs. so now i just act like i'm to good for them and play cards and feather-ball and swear ------------------

heheehe... you double posted. that should be like a sin or something....
i made the mistake of giving my email adress to a couple of my friends. bad mistake. now (my old one, not the detnet one) it gets like 4 chain letters a day. one guy even signed me up for a 'chain letter of the day' seriously. and thats why detnet mail is l33t, because i dont give it to anyone!------------------

Just forward the emails with full headers to the appropriate abuse channels. Usually you just send them to abuse@<isp here>, where the isp is the one in the return address.You can also find a pretty good util for gathering info about the origins of spam, etc. < here. > ------------------
