Im freakin' pissed off. Ive been an administrative assistant for a while now (three months at this last place) and this week was Administrative Assistant Appreciation week (with today Wednesday being Secretaries day) and my TWO bosses didnt get me shit! I shouldnt even be upset I already knew no one appreciated me. I mean yeah Im a temp and Im leaving in August but does that mean you cant at least give me a fucking CARD?- To top it all off ever other administrative assistant in this buidling got flowers at least. I do just about everything around here-travel arrangements, letters, correspondence, phone calls, answer calls, photocopy, fax, file, you name it and Ive done it (in an office capcity that is) and what do I get- NADA, ZIP, ZERO, ZELCH- ugh I cant wait to be out of here.
Just a nice little guilt trip.

The thing is, they do treat you like second class citizens (compared to the regular employees) which really sucks.
HP has a policy to lay you off after 2 years, and they can re-hire you after 3 months at their discretion. All to keep you from thinking your a regular employee. I think the government gets on your back to give employees benefits if they've been around a long time.
I'm just trying to say, don't get too down about it, it's not you, it's the position. We still love you

I would like to tell them to take this job and shove it. I took over someone elses position! To top this whole ordeal off my boss called me 6 times yesterday and not once did he say "happy secretaries day" not once. I have the option to leave this job and I think I am going to. I am going to talk to my contact at the agency and see if they can find me another position- perhaps one that pays me a little more money, one thats closer to home, and one where the people are complete assholes....

Secretaries Day. Right. Face it, your a temp, nobody cares about what you do so long as you have temp tatooed all over everything you do. Hell you could be the most productive person in the office and no one would really notice because, well, your just a temp and you'll be gone soon anyway.
I really don't see what your getting so worked up about anyway.

i really hate that i can walk in to work 2 hours late every day and noone says anything to me (note when i was treated half way right i didn't come into work late) they don't care if i'm here of not, i don't think i want to work here, i have an easy job ( i do nothing (seriously) i surf the web and get paid) i didn't start here to be bored all the time, i want a job that will push me, i want a fucking challenge not some lame ass job where i can fuck around all day. i use to work hard here, but now it sucks and i'm tired of a job that doesn't give a shit.
i wonder if that made sense.
It used to be when I first started working here that I would come in 15 minutes early and leave 15 minutes late and only take a half hour for lunch (when Im entitled to a full hour)- now that things have started to suck big time I come in 15 minutes late- leave 10 minutes early and take a hour for lunch (they dont know about the leaving early and coming in late shit because no one is ever here to see it)
Work sucks no matter what you do unless it was a job you were trained to do. I would say the majority of people are unhappy with their choice of employment (which is probably why there is such a high turn over rate in most jobs) but honestly I dont care because in 4 months Im going to law school and this 40 hours a week shit will be a faded memory.
