britsh special forces have recently been reporting that in fact both they and american forces have not in fact been as succesful in elimintaing the al quieda threat (spellings wrong no doubt). invetisgations have shown that most of it was an extremely over estimated war to satisfy the anger of america to give them some sense of satisfaction. in fact only a few small pockets of resistance were in fact engaged and this was before british forces were called in. It seems in fact that the only reason british forces were brought in was to give the indication of need of extra forces as all the local population has been shouting since we got there was that they've all buggered off to palestine. orignal thoughts of this being used as misinformation has actually changed to ones that they were telling the truth. Now both forces are being critisized that they're just wasting resources being in the area and the british field commander has openly reported frustration at american influences not letting his men search other areas.Ok so it wasn't as succesful as reported that aint a big surprise considering how the reports of the gulf war were with the scud missile attacks (90% kill rate on all scuds when in fact almost 95% actually made their targets) what the big thing is why the fuck are they staying in an area shown to be clear of all resistance its just a massive waste of resources and time.not exactly a war on terrorism, more a sit around the camp fire and toast marshmellows in case some taliban forgot their car keys and came back looking for them. 1st of all...don't let anyone tell you that you are ever spelling an arabic word incorrectly...unless you are using the arabic alphabet, that's pretty much not possible.2nd of all...it's politics, plain and simple. they are trying not to step on too many toes...which is a shitty way to wage a war. i'd love to believe that there is some kind of master plan in process...but more than likely, it's just beuracracy/politics at it's very finest. good morning, vietnam. hey we DID topple the taliban, that's gotta count for something.

Again. your only seeing what your aloud to see.Think of this as a big "Search and Distroy" mission. You have to comb the world for little groups of people, pen them in, and take them out. You have to do this in such a way that you dont distroy everything else in the area. From this little group you may get inteligence data on another group of fucknuggets and you can go knock on their door next. Now, if everone knew that we just hit your buddies house and you know that your buddy has stuff that points to you what are you going to do? Your going to haul ass. There are a couple of groups of aquatic mamals that have not been home more than a couple of weeks since october... You dont know everything that is going on. as for
it was a 90% kill rate on ENGAGED scuds. and
They are still finding stashes of weapons. They are still hitting pockets of resistance. But, the big reason they are still in the area is to do their other mission in life as Special Forces. They are training the people to become a police force and a real milatary and not just a bunch of rebels. Posted by demonk on Jun. 21 2002,16:30
So, we are basicly training the next group of people we are going to have to fight in ~10-15 years? ya, that's good planning People, we always conviently forget that we helped out the terrorists back in the 80's because they were actually fighting communists when there were still communists. We trained them, gave them weapons and supplies, and they still came and killed thousands of our people 10 years later. And now we are doing it all over again. The groups we are helping into power/training are no better than the taliban, just different reasons for wanting power. I promis you, in 10-15 years, we will again be back there, fighting to "liberate" the people again. Someone needs to sit Bush and his advisors down and actually teach them some modern history. Maybe then we wouldn't make the same mistakes over and over and over and... you get my point. Posted by Necromancer on Jun. 21 2002,17:00
so have america actually bothered to change their policy or just go "lets kill some arabs that'll solve the problem"
Posted by lykosis on Jun. 21 2002,17:38
i don't remember that ever being american policy...
Posted by Wolfguard on Jun. 21 2002,19:15
if that was the policy we would be using FAEs and not bothering with ground troops. (Fuel-Air Explosives are a wonderful thing. almost as good as a nuke) The war in afganastan was fought mostly by the rebels. we just bombed the shit out of things to help them out. That and teach them a few things about modern war. These were the people we helped in the 80s. These are the people that got overthrowen. As for helping them now, its what we do. Look at Japan and Germany. What was left of them after WW2? Not a lot. Personaly, i would of left them in ruin. But hey, thats just me. Posted by Wolfguard on Jun. 21 2002,19:19
No, we are helping the same people we helped in the 80s to be able to POLICE a country and not sit on it with a MILITARY force. Now ponder this. would YOU rather fight someone YOU trained or made shit up on the spot? Me, im going to fight the guy i trained and take advantage of the holes in his training. |
