I found I was very disappointed with Vanilla Sky, and that The Time Machine would've been a good movie except that they stopped making it in the middle, but A Beautiful Mind was wonderful. I've recently developed an taste for Dream Theatre, but my distaste for "Eminem" is still growing. Fahrenheit 451 is as always a good book, but once you figure out John Grisham's single plot outline, his books are shit.

Finally got to see Black Hawk Down. I remember someone complaining about "war porn". I'd have to disagree. That was professional development. A lot better than We Were Soldiers. Unfortunately, interesting films rarely make it on post. Last really good film I saw was Memento.
Hmmm....Kuru's into prog-metal. Somehow, I'm not seeing it. For some reason, I always pictured something a little more intense.
Off topic- I'm not fan of Widows 2000 Professional. Commo damn near killed our database. We almost ran them through a tainted anthrax vaccination series.
I killed my car. I've since resuscitated the beater. I'm stragely elated. It's time to run it into a tree, that thing is fugly. Suggestions on what to buy next? (No Trabants)

I like everything except rap, r&b, top 40 and country.
That means I like everything from Ozzy to Strawberry Alarm Clock to Beethoven to Gregorian Chant.

filthy said it first, but I aree with him whole heartedly and was the one that said it on here... I think he got it best in this bit
Quote | Blackhawk Down starts with a slow introduction to the characters, the Delta Rangers, who "are undisciplined cowboys." I swear to God, a character says that tired-ass line, just so we know these guys are like every other American movie war hero. There are some vague references to the fighting in Somalia, to actual events, and some uncertainty among the soldiers about our presence. But, no point is ever made strongly, because to take a stand is to alienate some segment of the ticket buyers. The soldiers are straight out of central casting; we know the guy who talks about his wife and kids is going to die, and the goofy guy (Ewan McGregor) who wants to prove himself will do just that.
Then comes the dense bulk of the movie: 90-fucking minutes of explosions. It looks great, real, bloody, violent and chaotic. In fact, Blackhawk Down does an amazing job of showing that war is all chaos and new decisions that must be made every minute. It's never cartoonish. In fact, Scott loves to make it as gritty and bloody as possible. He makes sure we understand that the American fighters are in a lot of pain; screaming, squirting blood and slowly passing away. By contrast, the Somalians drop like flies. Every single one of them dies an instant and painless death. But the Americans suffer through torn limbs, ripped arteries and deafness. A half-hour of this would be fine, but ninety minutes is relentless. It goes past the point where I thought "Wow, war is a mess," to "okay, I get the point," to "fuck, I hope Rubio's is still open when this is done."
Bruckheimer and Scott are like the priests who tell you how destructive pornography is, then tell you what kinds of pornography are worst, describe the most vile acts you can find in pornography and then pull out examples from their dog-eared private stash.

Most of the Eminem haters i know have never listened to much of his music. The message of his songs does not promote violence towards women, hatred of homosexuals, drug use, or any of the other dumb shit that old people who've never listened to his music accuse him of. Quite the opposite.

So what you're saying is that I missed the point of the song about him beating, raping, and murdering his wife?

From his third album < 'The Slim Shady LP' >:
I just found out my mom does more dope than I do I told her I'd grow up to be a famous rapper Make a record about doin drugs and name it after her

you obviously don't get the point of his music, so let me explain to you how Eminem's music differs from most gangsta rap that promotes drug use, violence towards women, violence towards police, etc...
His music is full of violent imagry, foul language, and illicit drug use refferences, but he doesn not glorify this lifestyle. You don't see him in his videos iced out cruising in a bently.... You don't see any fly girls shaking their money maker in his face.... You don't see him pulling out wads of hundreds, saying shit like 'thug life', 'its all about the benjemins' or 'pimpin ain't easy'.... His message is "my life is fucked up, my parents are fucked up, im fucked up, society is fucked up, but feel free to fuck up your life like i fucked up mine if you don't want to listen to what im trying to say." examples:
Quote | [role model] I get a clean shave, bathe, go to a rave Die from an overdose and dig myself up out of my grave ... Now follow me and do exactly what you see Don't you wanna grow up to be just like me! I slap women and eat shrooms then O.D. Now don't you wanna grow up to be just like me! ... 'm bout as normal as Norman Bates, with deformative traits A premature birth that was four minutes late Mother.. are you there? I love you I never meant to hit you over the head with that shovel Will someone explain to my brain that I just severed a main vein with a chainsaw and I'm in pain? ... I came to the club drunk with a fake ID Don't you wanna grow up to be just like me! I've been with 10 women who got HIV Now don't you wanna grow up to be just like me! I got genital warts and it burns when I pee Don't you wanna grow up to be just like me! I tie a rope around my penis and jump from a tree You probably wanna grow up to be just like me!!! ... [The Kids] Hi there little boys and girls (FUCK YOU! Today we're gonna to learn how to poison squirrels But first, I'd like you to meet my friend Bob (Huh?) Say hi Bob! ("Hi Bob") Bob's 30 and still lives with his mom and he don't got a job, cause Bob sits at home and smokes pot but his twelve-year old brother looks up to him an awful lot And Bob likes to hang out at the local waffle spot and wait in the parkin lot for waitresses off the clock when it's late and the lot gets dark and fake like he walks his dog Drag 'em in the woods and go straight to the chopping blocks (AHH! And even if they escaped and they got the cops the ladies would all be so afraid, they would drop the charge 'til one night Mrs. Stacey went off the job when she felt someone grab her whole face and said not to talk But Stacey knew it was Bob and said knock it off But Bob wouldn't knock it off cause he's crazy and off his rocker Crazier than Slim Shady is off the vodka You couldn't even take him to Dre's to get Bob a "Dr." He grabbed Stace' by the legs as chopped it off her and dropped her off in the lake for the cops to find her But ever since the day Stacey went off to wander they never found her, and Bob still hangs at the waffle diner And that's the story of Bob and his marijuana, and what it might do to you So see if the squirrels want any - it's bad for you

I dislike Eminem because I dislike Eminem, I couldn't give a flying fuck what the words were, I'll go and do what I choose to do not what a song tells me to do.
If you were to beat women, do drugs etc. because of a song you have to be pretty mentally unstable anyway.
I used to listen to him all the time a quite liked his stuff, but i'm just not into it anymore. But the fools who say he is giving their children unwholesome thoughts are just looking for someone to blame for their bad parenting in moy opinion.
I listen to Rage quite alot, but i'm not going to go out and start terrorising the american leaders because rage said "Fuck you I won't do what you tell me".
One day people will learn that you can't blame music for other peoples actions.

Well no shit you don't hear him saying "thug life" or "pimpin ain't easy" - he's whiter than the wads of encrusted cum Dr. Dre filled his girly, virgin ass with. (Don't call me racist. When was the last time you heard a white man say either of those quoted?)
Actually, from what I've been forced to endure of it, Eminem doesn't seem to be into the violence against police nearly as much as the other members of the rap "industry" - he's probably too busy pushing drugs on kids and beating prostitutes.
Why don't we take a look at some more "examples." Please excuse the grammatical errors in the lyrics - I just cut and pasted them off a popular Eminem site, so they're not going to be written any better than fifth-grade literature.
lyrics convieniently omitted by BlackFlag lyrics that prove aforementioned points about women-beating, murder and drug promotion - hereafter referred to as Rapperisms
Quote | From "Role Model": Mic check one two.. we recordin? I'm cancerous, so when I diss you wouldn't wanna answer this If you responded back with a battle rap you wrote for Canibus I strangled you to death then I choked you again Then break your fuckin legs till your bones poke through your skin You beef wit me, I'ma even the score equally Take you on Jerry Springer, and beat yer ass legally I get you blunted off of funny home grown Cause when I smoke out I hit the trees harder than Sonny Bono (Ohh no!! So if I said I never did drugs That would mean I lie AND get fucked more than the President does Hillary Clinton tried to slap me and call me a pervert I ripped her fuckin tonsils out and fed her sherbet (Bitch! My nerves hurt, and lately I'm on edge Grabbed Vanilla Ice and ripped out his blonde dreads (Fuck you! Every girl I ever went out wit is goin lez Follow me and do exactly what the song says: smoke weed, take pills, drop outta school, kill people and drink And jump behind the wheel like it was still legal I'm dumb enough to walk in a store and steal So I'm dumb enough to ask for a date with Lauryn Hill Some people only see that I'm white, ignorin skill Cause I stand out like a green hat with a orange bill But I don't get pissed, y'all don't even see through the mist How the fuck can I be white, I don't even exist I get a clean shave, bathe, go to a rave Die from an overdose and dig myself up out of my grave My middle finger won't go down, how do I wave? And this is how I'm supposed to teach kids how to behave?
Now follow me and do exactly what you see Don't you wanna grow up to be just like me! I slap women and eat shrooms then O.D. Now don't you wanna grow up to be just like me!
Me and Marcus Allen went over to see Nicole When we heard a knock at the door, must have been Ron Gold' Jumped behind the door, put the orgy on hold Killed em both and smeared blood in a white Bronco (we did it! My mind won't work if my spine don't jerk I slapped Garth Brooks out of his Rhinestone shirt I'm not a player just a ill rhyme sayer That'll spray an Aerosol can up at the ozone layer (psssssssh) My rap style's warped, I'm runnin out the morgue witcha dead grandmother's corpse to throw it on your porch Jumped in a Chickenhawk cartoon wit a cape on And beat up Foghorn Leghorn with an acorn I'm bout as normal as Norman Bates, with deformative traits A premature birth that was four minutes late Mother.. are you there? Wow. So let's see, we've got pretty much all the bases covered in that one "song". Woman-beating, drug abuse, and murder.
Posted by kuru on Apr. 18 2002,22:44
I could give a shit what the subject matter of his 'songs' are, I think he's a talentless hack who only gets attention because he tries to be controversial.
I've listened to his 'music' (I suppose it loosely fits the defnition) and most of it could've been written better by a fifth grader.
Distaste because... well, even without considering content, it all sucks.

people take the music industry too seriously. I don't think theres much wrong with eminem. He makes a few shit songs but the majority are pretty funny and the videos are usually damn entertaining to watch. Who cares if he uses controversy to sell records i doubt he gives a shit about anyones opinions of him when he's rolling a roundin his vault of money.
Quote | McBane: My latest movie cost over 8 billion dollars to make and features me sitting in a room for 2 hours.

McBane: On a big pile of money with many beautiful ladies. |
